Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Remote Contract to Perm Role (Local Candidates to MA, NH, RI, or CT)

Project Details:

• Senior Infrastructure Engineer on a professional services team that delivers infrastructure projects for hundreds of customers
• Work includes design input, new environment builds, troubleshooting, hardware rip-and-replace, and virtualization migrations (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
• Project delivery role, not ongoing environment maintenance
• Contract-to-hire or direct hire; remote
• 8–5 schedule with occasional after-hours cutovers

Must Haves:

• Strong experience level, roughly 10 years in infrastructure engineering
• Hands-on experience building and migrating infrastructure environments from scratch (implementation and migration, not just administration)
• Virtualization migration experience (VMware, Hyper-V, and/or Nutanix)
• Strong Active Directory and domain controller knowledge, plus experience in mapping application and service dependencies during migrations
• Working networking knowledge (top-of-rack switching, SAN/storage, and server connectivity)
• Able to recognize when to escalate or pull in a specialist (e.g., network engineer)
• Project-based background at a VAR, IT engineering or solutions firm, or as an implementation contractor across multiple clients
• Comfortable with occasional after-hours or weekend cutovers
• US work authorization, no sponsorship
• Able to pass a background check

Nice to Haves:

• Certifications from VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, Fortinet, Extreme, and/or Aruba (any combination; not all required)
• Storage and server hardware experience
• Generalist background spanning networking, server, storage, and Microsoft
• Experience helping customers with solution design and product selection
• Contract or consulting background with frequent project turnover
