Engineer, Structural Test

Job Purpose:

The Design Engineer performs design activities for test fixtures and test setups using CATIA V5 in accordance with Test Department specifications. This role develops and implements effective solutions for fixture design, fabrication, and use in support of aircraft structural testing.

Key Accountabilities:

• Test fixture and setup design: Design full-scale and component test fixtures, test setup models, 3D models, and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 to support fabrication and test preparation.
• Test setup planning and cross-functional coordination: Review test requirements and coordinate with stress, tooling, purchasing, and quality teams to prepare designs for testing.
• Design review and documentation support: Review 3D models and drawings for conformity and documentation integrity using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing; support conformity documentation, drawing deviations, and discrepancy resolution.
• Test execution and troubleshooting support: Support test execution, including troubleshooting and resolution of test setup issues.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

• Education or equivalent technical background in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of aircraft or aerospace design experience, preferably in R&D, tooling, test fixture design, or other structures work.
• Relevant aircraft production design experience may also be considered.
• Advanced CATIA V5 capability, Microsoft Office, MS Visio, Siemens Teamcenter integration; excellent written and communication Skills

Working Conditions:

• Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
• Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
• Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
• Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
• Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
• Effectively communicate in Business English language.
• Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
