Job Summary
Bitcot is seeking an experienced Epic Beaker Analyst to support the development, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Beaker within a healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Epic Beaker, a strong understanding of laboratory workflows and healthcare processes, and experience supporting Epic applications throughout the application lifecycle. The analyst will work closely with laboratory professionals, clinical teams, IT stakeholders, and other application teams to analyze requirements, develop solutions, troubleshoot issues, and optimize Epic Beaker functionality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the analysis, design, configuration/build, testing, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Epic Beaker.
2. Serve as a subject matter resource for Epic Beaker functionality and laboratory workflows.
3. Analyze laboratory and business requirements and translate them into effective Epic Beaker solutions.
4. Work closely with laboratory leadership, pathologists, laboratory technologists, clinicians, IT teams, and operational stakeholders.
5. Support laboratory workflows and processes within Epic Beaker.
6. Configure and maintain Beaker functionality based on organizational and clinical requirements.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve Epic Beaker application issues, system errors, and workflow-related problems.
8. Provide day-to-day application support to laboratory and clinical end users.
9. Participate in Epic Beaker implementations, upgrades, enhancements, conversions, and optimization initiatives.
10. Support the complete application lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, implementation, go-live, and post-production support.
11. Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, validation activities, and regression testing.
12. Participate in integrated testing and user acceptance testing.
13. Support cross-application integration between Beaker, other Epic applications, laboratory systems, and related healthcare technologies.
14. Support laboratory interfaces and integrations as applicable.
15. Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, data quality, and system functionality.
16. Develop and maintain application, configuration, workflow, testing, and support documentation.
17. Participate in Epic upgrades, new functionality releases, enhancements, and system maintenance activities.
18. Collaborate with Epic representatives, internal application teams, technical teams, vendors, and clinical stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
19. Participate in go-live planning, implementation, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization activities.
20. Provide application guidance, training, and knowledge transfer to end users and team members.
21. Participate in workflow reviews, application design sessions, project meetings, and other implementation activities.
22. Communicate application issues, project status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to project and operational leadership.
23. Support multiple application assignments and projects as required.

Required Qualifications

1. Active/current Epic Beaker certification.
2. Hands-on experience working with Epic Beaker.
3. 3+ years of relevant Epic/healthcare IT experience; 5+ years preferred.
4. Experience supporting Epic applications in a healthcare environment.
5. Experience with Epic application configuration/build, testing, implementation, optimization, and production support.
6. Strong understanding of laboratory workflows and healthcare processes.
7. Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and functional requirements.
8. Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex application and workflow issues.
9. Experience working with laboratory, clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders.
10. Experience with application testing, validation, and implementation activities.
11. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Epic Beaker AP certification.
2. Epic Beaker CP certification.
3. Experience with both Beaker AP and CP.
4. Recent Epic Beaker implementation experience.
5. Experience supporting full-cycle Epic implementations.
6. Experience supporting Beaker within a large or multi-hospital healthcare organization.
7. Experience with laboratory information systems and laboratory workflows.
8. Experience with laboratory interfaces, instruments, middleware, and integrations.
9. Experience supporting Epic upgrades, enhancements, and optimization projects.
10. Experience with workflow redesign and process improvement.
11. Experience supporting go-live and post-production stabilization.
12. Experience working directly with Epic Systems representatives.
13. Clinical laboratory or laboratory information systems experience.
14. Experience providing end-user training and application support.
15. Experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior application analysts.

Education

1. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field preferred.
2. Equivalent relevant Epic, healthcare IT, or laboratory experience may be considered.

Experience

1. 3+ years of relevant Epic/healthcare IT experience preferred.
2. Demonstrated hands-on experience with Epic Beaker.
3. Experience supporting Epic Beaker through application build, testing, implementation, optimization, and production support.
4. Recent Epic Beaker implementation or optimization experience is strongly preferred.
