Role Description The Hydroelectric Systems Integration Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in York, PA, with flexibility for partial work from home. In this role, the engineer coordinates the integration of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems for turbine upgrades, refurbishments, and new installations. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and reviewing system requirements and interface specifications, performing systems-level design and integration analyses, and supporting configuration and commissioning activities at customer sites when needed. The engineer collaborates closely with project managers, design engineers, field service teams, and customer technical staff to ensure equipment and control systems function reliably across the full operating range. The position also involves diagnosing integration issues, supporting factory and site testing, preparing technical documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of hydropower system performance and reliability.

Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering discipline.

· Five or more years of relevant engineering experience involving hydroelectric equipment, rotating machinery, power-generation auxiliaries, industrial systems integration, or comparable balance-of-plant systems.

· Demonstrated experience progressing engineering work from requirements and concept through detailed design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.

· Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, technical proposals, supplier submittals, and commissioning documentation.

  • · Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple concurrent technical assignments.
  • Candidates should possess strong Systems Engineering and System Administration skills for hydropower equipment and control system integration.
  • Candidates should possess Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose and resolve system-level issues in the field and remotely.
  • Candidates should possess Testing skills, including system verification, validation, and support of factory and site acceptance tests.
  • Relevant experience with hydroelectric turbines, generators, plant control systems (PLC/SCADA), and electrical power systems is beneficial.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, control logic diagrams, and technical specifications, and to prepare clear technical documentation.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and hydro plants as project needs require, including occasional overnight or extended assignments.
