About vWorka

vWorka is a mobile-first hiring marketplace helping businesses find suitable local workers while helping workers discover jobs that fit their skills, location, and preferences.

We're starting in Lagos, with the goal of building a better way for businesses and workers across emerging markets to connect.

We're currently building the MVP and looking for a Founding Product Designer to join us at this early stage.

The Role

As the Founding Product Designer, you'll have significant ownership over how vWorka looks, feels, and works.

You'll work directly with the founding team to turn product ideas into simple, intuitive experiences for both workers and employers.

This isn't a role where you'll simply receive requirements and design screens. You'll be involved in shaping the product itself.

What you'll do

• Design the worker and employer mobile experiences
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
• Design core experiences including onboarding, job discovery, job posting, applications, profiles, and subscriptions
• Build and maintain a consistent design system
• Work closely with the development team to ensure designs are implemented well
• Participate in product discussions and help make UX decisions
• Use user feedback to continuously improve the product
• Help establish vWorka's visual and product design direction

What we're looking for

• Strong UI/UX and product design skills
• Strong Figma skills
• Good understanding of mobile-first design
• Ability to think about user problems, not just visual design
• Comfortable working independently in an early-stage environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to take ownership and iterate quickly
• Genuine interest in joining an early-stage startup and building from the ground up

You don't need years of experience. What matters most is your ability, product thinking, ownership, and willingness to build.

You'll be joining at a very early stage, which means you'll have real influence over the product.

You'll work directly with the founding team, help define the design system, contribute to product decisions, and see your work go from idea → design → production → real users.

This is intended to be a long-term founding-team opportunity, not a short-term freelance role.

Equity

The role comes with 5% equity, subject to the final equity agreement.

The equity will vest over 4 years with a 1-year cliff.

There is no cash compensation initially. As vWorka grows and funding/revenue allows, the role can transition into a paid position.

Commitment

We're looking for someone who can consistently contribute alongside the founding team.

The exact weekly commitment can be discussed based on the right candidate, but we're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in building with us rather than simply completing a design assignment.
