Position Overview
We are a 15-year RFID and sensor-based systems provider supporting State Agencies, Federal government programs, and commercial enterprises. Our U.S. team delivers mission critical visibility solutions across regulated environments.
We are seeking a hands-on Technical Project Manager / Developer based in the MD/DC/VA region for a part-time 1099 contract (~20 hours/week). Our core software platform is already fully developed. Your role is to serve as the client-facing technical lead for new and ongoing State Agency contracts, Federal deployments, and multi-site operational rollouts including scoping requirements, writing targeted code modifications, and integrating RFID hardware on-site.
This hybrid role requires an excellent communicator who can confidently manage government stakeholders, execute code changes, and attend frequent on-site meetings throughout the DMV region.
- Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
- Hours: Minimun 20 hrs./week (flexible; aligned with East Coast business hours)
- Location: Remote + On-Site (Must reside in MD, DC, or VA) - Visit Customers' locations as required.
- Duration: 6 month initial contract with strong extension potential through additional State and Federal contract awards
- Rate: $75–$115/hr. (based on coding depth + RFID integration experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Government-Facing Technical Lead: Serve as a primary technical interface for State Agencies and Federal government clients. Lead requirement sessions, technical briefings, and recurring on-site meetings across the MD/DC/VA region. Support secondary clients as needed.
- Hands-On Coding & Customization: Write clean, production-ready code modifications within our established application. Implement feature adjustments, custom logic, and API-level changes based on agency requirements.
- RFID Hardware & Software Integration: Configure, test, and validate how our software interacts with active/passive RFID readers, tags, sensors, and physical infrastructure within government facilities.
- Deployment Ownership: Manage end-to-end delivery - testing, validation, documentation, and adherence to State and Federal deployment protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Local Residency: Must live in MD, DC, or VA with reliable transportation for regular customer on-site meetings as needed.
- Clearance Eligibility: No active clearance required.
- Coding Experience: 5+ years professional development experience. Must be comfortable modifying an existing production codebase using an LLRP centric tech stack including C/C++, C#/.NET, Java, Python, embedded Linux/Yocto, Dockerized middleware, and TCP/IP communication with RFID hardware (LLRP, EPC Gen2, MQTT/REST APIs).
- Government & Client-Facing Experience: 5+ years in a consultant, solution architect, or technical account manager role. Must be confident leading high-stakes meetings with State and Federal stakeholders.
- RFID/IoT Integration Experience: Practical experience integrating software with RFID systems, IoT sensors, or physical tracking technologies.
How to Apply
Please provide:
- A brief summary of your experience with the above tech stack and a past RFID/IoT client project.
- Confirmation that you reside in MD/DC/VA, can attend customer on-site meetings as needed.
- Your hourly rate (within the posted range) and weekly availability for the next 6 months.
