Position Overview:

Join Siemens Mobility as an Electrical Systems Engineer and help deliver safe, reliable electrical and electromechanical systems for passenger rail vehicles. Partner across engineering, production, testing, suppliers, and project management to integrate and troubleshoot systems from development through commissioning and warranty support. This full-time, onsite role in Lexington, North Carolina, includes occasional travel to Sacramento, customer sites, suppliers, and project locations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Develop, integrate, and validate electrical, electromechanical, hardware, software, and networked systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, cybersecurity, and EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, communications, networking, and software issues; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support for vehicle assembly, testing, commissioning, warranty, field activities, and customer acceptance.
  • Review supplier designs and deliverables, support supplier qualification, and prepare engineering, test, operating, design, and proposal documentation.
  • Partner across engineering, sourcing, project management, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to balance performance, reliability, schedule, cost, and continuous improvement.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role, but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in electrical, systems, controls, automation, or electromechanical engineering, including system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring, networking, communication protocols, digital signal processing, RF concepts, and hardware/software integration.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic and test tools, including oscilloscopes, PicoScopes, multimeters, network analyzers, Wireshark, PuTTY, and WinSCP.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to work in office and manufacturing environments, and permanent U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
  • Preferred: experience in complex engineered products, vehicle integration, commissioning, manufacturing, systems testing, railway electrical architecture, cybersecurity, root-cause analysis, EMI/EMC, suppliers, or customer technical teams.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Purpose is the reason a company exists. It's not about making money or selling products - it's the deeper "why" behind everything we do. It answers the question: What problem are we solving? What positive change are we creating?

For Siemens, our purpose has been clear for over 175 years: We create technology to transform the everyday, for everyone.

The world needs technologies that work. Technologies that matter. Technologies that solve today's challenges and help shape a better tomorrow. And that's exactly what we build. By bringing together the real world (factories, buildings, power grids, trains) with the digital world (software, data, AI, digital twins), we help our customers become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable.

Our technology is everywhere - in trains and transportation, we help move people faster, safer, and more sustainably.
