The Electrical Application Engineer role offers an early-career engineering professional the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with electronic systems and modules used in commercial vehicle and fleet applications. Working alongside experienced engineers and suppliers, this individual will help meet customer requirements while building practical skills in product testing, software calibration, systems integration, and technical problem-solving.
Responsibilities include developing application-specific requirements for core products; developing, executing, and reporting on test plans; calibrating and tuning software to meet customer requirements; coordinating product adjustments with suppliers; and providing technical support for issues that arise in the field.
COMPETENCIES
- Familiarity with CAN bus architecture
- Familiarity with flashing of automotive ECUs or similar electronic components
- Familiarity with automotive ADAS systems such as rear-view camera, surround view camera systems
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
- 0-2 Years of experience, including internships, co-ops, etc.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop application-specific customer requirements documents
- Develop software flashes and calibrations for modules to meet customer specific requirements.
- Develop application-specific test plans to ensure function requirements are met.
- Execute test plans against flashed modules.
- Create new application-specific part numbers in our inventory management system to ensure products can be shipped
- Store and organize application-specific customer flashes so that the application can be used at scale.
- Carry new application-specific requirements back to our engineering team for integration into our core product.
- Collect and integrate new vehicle CAN message information to tailor a product to a specific vehicle line.
- Release of hardware and software for operations to deploy to customers.
- Customer field support for field issues.
