Evergreen Engineering®, Inc. is seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our growing team.
At Evergreen, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on challenging heavy industrial and manufacturing projects, contributing to the design, layout, and detailed development of industrial buildings, equipment support structures, and foundations. Our projects range from moderate to complex in scope. They include both new construction and modifications to operating facilities in the wood products, pulp and paper, power generation, renewable energy, chemicals, and metals industries.

This position requires availability to work in our Eugene office and visit project sites as needed.
What you will do
- Develop structural calculations, models, sketches, and details under the direction of a licensed engineer.
- Assist with the design of steel and concrete structures, foundations, and equipment anchorage.
- Investigate existing conditions in the field and document for use in the design work.
- Prepare information for CAD technicians and review drawings for consistency with the design.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and other disciplines as your experience grows.
- Help prepare calculation packages, reports, specifications, and responses to construction questions.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or (structural focused) architectural engineering from an accredited college or university.
- A solid grasp of structural engineering fundamentals and a strong interest in industrial work.
- Ability to communicate clearly, follow through on assignments, and raise questions when information is missing.
- Willingness to learn from field conditions, other disciplines, and experienced engineers.
Preferred
- Prior structural engineering experience is highly desirable
- Experience working in construction, industrial plant, manufacturing or other relevant work experience
- Experience with RISA-3D, RISAFoundation, AutoCAD, Revit, Mathcad, or applicable building codes is helpful.
Schedule, benefits, and application
Schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexible schedule options, including 4-9’s and ½ day Friday. Position is in-office in Eugene, Oregonwith potential for telecommuting or hybrid option with strong performance, adequate onboarding, and reduced need for mentoring and training.
