About the job
Teltrium is a technical services company that provides systems engineering and project execution support and capabilities to satellite communications and spectrum management technology programs for NASA and other customers.
We believe:
- In the tremendous power of space exploration to benefit humanity
- In the essential role space systems and networks play in bringing those benefits to life
- In realizing the potential of human ingenuity to unlock that power
And…
- In inspiring tomorrow’s explorers and innovators
We:
- Employ subject matter experts and thought leaders to bring our customers’ vision to reality by developing strategic plans and executing technical analyses.
- Give our engineering team the freedom to stretch boundaries to develop space systems, improve RF communications systems and create space system analysis and planning tools.
- Develop education and outreach materials to foster the next generation of space scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide cross-project systems engineering leadership for complex space communications, navigation, and operational network initiatives. This role will focus on connectivity across systems and missions, development of concepts of operations, management of technical interfaces and risks, and the transition of new capabilities from development into operational networks.
The successful candidate will combine strong systems-engineering fundamentals with an understanding of communications and networked systems. This individual must be able to work across organizational and project boundaries, and communicate effectively with technical teams and program managers.
- Apply systems-engineering principles across multiple communications, navigation, networking, or mission-support projects.
- Evaluate systems from an enterprise perspective, identifying dependencies, interoperability needs, technical gaps, and cross-project impacts.
- Facilitate collaboration on and development of concepts of operations, and operational scenarios
- Help plan and guide the transition of new technologies and capabilities from development, demonstration, and test into sustained operational use.
- Coordinate interface definition and resolution across internal projects and external stakeholders.
- Perform associated technical risk identification, assessment, mitigation planning, and tracking.
- Support technical reviews, readiness assessments, integration activities, testing, verification, validation, and operational acceptance.
- Develop clear technical documentation, briefings, decision packages, recommendations, and status reports.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Physics, or a related technical field.
Experience: 8–10+ years of progressively responsible systems-engineering experience involving complex technical systems. Experience supporting space communications and navigation systems, network services, related technology development, or strategic technical planning activities. Graduate work may contribute to years of experience.
Work Authorization: US Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
Role / Work Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site position at our Lakewood, CO office with expected periodic travel. We are open to considering strong candidates in the Washington DC area who would report on-site to Greenbelt MD, with periodic time at NASA HQ in Washington, DC.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with NASA, civil space, Department of Defense, or other government space and communications programs.
- Experience with enterprise-level system architectures spanning multiple missions, projects, or service providers.
- Knowledge of systems-engineering lifecycle frameworks and technical review processes.
- Experience with operational readiness, service introduction, transition planning, or technology infusion.
- Experience leading technical working groups or cross-functional engineering teams.
- Relevant systems-engineering certification or training.
- Active SECRET clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
