About Triphos
Triphos Power is a full-stack battery-as-a-service company focused on commercial and industrial (C&I) customers. We finance, own, deploy, operate, and maintain battery storage systems, backed by our own in-house Energy Management System (EMS) — putting us at the intersection of system integration, battery portfolio management, and technology. Our target is 100 MWh across 30–40 C&I sites in Year 1, scaling to a gigawatt-hour-plus portfolio within three years. We're backed by the promoter family of Rupa & Co. and Neo Metaliks, giving us capital strength, distribution expertise, and a warm C&I customer pipeline from day one.
About the Role
As Business Development Manager – Technical (BESS), you'll own the deal lifecycle for our commercial and industrial customers — from the first discovery call through to a signed commercial proposal. You'll sit at the intersection of client relationships and technical feasibility, turning a client's load and generation data into a sized battery solution, a validated ROI case, and an executable proposal, while coordinating engineering, vendors, and management to get there. With Triphos targeting 100 MWh across 30–40 C&I sites in Year 1, this role is central to converting our pipeline into signed, financeable deals.
Key Responsibilities
• Proposal & Bid Management: Own the full bid lifecycle — prepare and present techno-commercial proposals and feasibility reports to clients, and manage the process through to RFQ and submission.
• Techno-Commercial Assessment: Analyze client energy consumption and generation data to identify suitable energy storage use cases and recommend appropriately sized solutions, validating both technical and commercial feasibility.
• Client Engagement: Manage assigned client accounts end-to-end — leading discovery discussions and stakeholder mapping to understand requirements and take the opportunity forward.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as the primary link between clients, Engineering, and Management — forming and driving cross-functional teams to ensure technical inputs, timelines, and deliverables stay aligned through the sales cycle.
• Vendor & Costing Management: Coordinate RFQs and technical/commercial evaluations with vendors and OEMs; support preparation of costing sheets, comparative statements, and risk assessments for final commercial offers.
• Pipeline & Reporting: Maintain a structured sales pipeline and project documentation (MoMs, trackers, proposals); report progress and key account status to Management.
• Market Intelligence: Track industry trends and regulatory developments (tariff structures, DISCOM policies) in the energy storage/power sector to inform business strategy.
Key Requirements / Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Power Engineering (an MBA or equivalent business exposure is a plus, not mandatory)
• 5+ years of experience in business development, technical sales, or project engineering within power, energy storage (BESS/solar), or C&I energy solutions
• Strong analytical mindset — comfortable working with load/generation data, and a solid grasp of the broader power ecosystem: DISCOM regulations and tariff structures, power exchanges, and how these shape C&I energy decisions
• Working understanding of power systems, battery energy storage (BESS), or EMS concepts — or a clear ability to pick these up fast
• Exposure to financial/ROI modeling and savings estimation
• Experience managing vendor RFQs, technical/commercial comparisons, and coordinating with engineering teams (BOQ, SLD, site surveys)
• Client-facing skills — stakeholder mapping, running discovery calls, managing CFTs, negotiating through to commercial closure
• Comfortable owning a deal end-to-end in a fast-moving environment
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who's equally comfortable in a client meeting and in a spreadsheet full of load profiles — someone who takes ownership of a deal end-to-end rather than waiting to be handed the next step. This is a small, fast-moving team, so you'll need to be hands-on and genuinely willing to get into the weeds.
• High ownership — you drive the deal from discovery to closure, not just your slice of it
• Comfortable working in a small team without a lot of hand-holding or process
• Genuinely analytical — you don't just relay client data, you interrogate it
• Adaptable to a fast-changing, still-forming environment
• Strong communicator who can translate between client, engineering, and vendor conversations
• Polished interpersonal skills — able to build genuine rapport and trust quickly with clients and vendors
