Staff Fullstack Engineer

Xverse is building the sovereign onchain bank for Bitcoin. Millions people already use Xverse to hold and use Bitcoin without giving up custody. Now we're building everything a bank does, on Bitcoin's terms:

• Store: Hold value in Bitcoin with full self-custody. No wrappers, no IOUs.
• Grow: Deploy BTC into staking and lending to grow your wealth.
• Borrow: Get liquidity against your BTC without selling it.
• Spend: Use your Bitcoin in everyday life through cards and virtual bank accounts on both crypto and fiat payment rails.

Most of the industry solved these problems by taking custody of users' coins. We think that misses the point of Bitcoin. Our job is to deliver the full financial experience while keeping users in control of their own keys. That constraint is what makes the work hard, and what makes it matter.

The role
You'll be one of a small group of senior engineers working across the entire stack, from mobile, browser extension, and web clients to backend services, integrations, and Bitcoin transaction logic. At Staff level, you'll shape how we build as much as what we build.

Problems you'll work on:

• Self-custody without compromise: Secure key management, transaction construction and signing, and making native Bitcoin simple for millions of non-technical users.
• Yield and lending: Integrating staking and lending protocols in ways that are safe, transparent, and preserve user control.
• Bitcoin-backed borrowing: Collateral management, risk monitoring, and liquidity flows where users never have to hand over their coins.
• Payments: Connecting onchain Bitcoin to card and bank-account rails, bridging crypto and fiat systems that were never designed to talk to each other.
• Building in the AI era: Engineering is changing fast, and we're pushing the boundaries on how a small team uses AI to ship more, faster, without lowering the bar on security and correctness. You'll help define those practices.

What you'll do

• Own major features and systems end to end, from design and architecture through to production and iteration
• Make sound architectural decisions for software that handles people's money
• Raise the bar on code quality, security, and reliability across the team
• Work closely with product and design to turn ambiguous problems into shipped products
• Help evolve how we build, including AI-assisted workflows, tooling, and process
• Mentor and level up the engineers around you

You might be a fit if you

• Have 8+ years of engineering experience and have shipped products used at real scale
• Are genuinely full-stack and comfortable moving between frontend, backend, and infrastructure
• Believe in Bitcoin and want to spend the next several years making it more usable
• Have built things you care deeply about and can explain why they mattered
• Use AI tools well, know their limits, and apply real judgment where it counts
• Are a resourceful, self-directed problem solver who thrives with ownership
• Communicate clearly in writing and in conversation, which is essential on a remote-first team

Bonus points: Experience with Bitcoin transactions and scripting (PSBTs, signing, UTXO management), wallets or key management, DeFi or lending protocols, payments or card issuing, or security-critical systems.
