AI Information Security Lead

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced AI Information Security Lead to drive information-security and cybersecurity initiatives within an AI/ML-driven environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing security risks, incidents, vulnerabilities, compliance requirements, and security controls across AI/ML and cloud-based platforms.
Experience within the telecommunications sector is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage information-security programmes across AI/ML environments.
Identify, assess and mitigate cybersecurity and information-security risks.
Manage security incidents, investigations and remediation activities.
Conduct threat modelling and security risk assessments for AI/ML solutions.
Establish and monitor security controls for AI/ML platforms and applications.
Assess risks associated with AI models, data, APIs and cloud infrastructure.
Drive vulnerability management, penetration testing and security scanning activities.
Support security and compliance audits and ensure remediation of identified findings.
Implement and maintain data privacy and information-security controls.
Collaborate with technology, cloud, data and AI teams to embed security throughout the development lifecycle.
Monitor security events and work with cybersecurity teams to identify and respond to threats.
Evaluate and improve cybersecurity tooling, processes and security monitoring capabilities.
Provide security guidance to stakeholders and senior management.

Required Experience
4+ years of experience in Information Security, Cybersecurity or a closely related field.
Proven experience managing information-security programmes in an AI/ML-driven environment.
Experience with AI/ML security, including risks associated with models, data and AI platforms.
Strong experience in:
Information-security risk management
Security incident management
Vulnerability management
Penetration testing
Vulnerability scanning
Threat modelling
Security monitoring
Compliance and security audits
Data privacy
Experience securing cloud-based platforms and services.
Telecommunications industry experience is preferred.
Ability to work with technical and business stakeholders at senior levels.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
Certifications
A recognised Information Security / Cybersecurity certification is required or highly preferred, such as:
CISSP
CISM
Or an equivalent recognised cybersecurity certification.
