Sr. Database Developer (MySQL)

Must-Have Skills
A. Strong hands-on experience in database development and administration, including AWS RDS,
performance optimization, replication, high availability, backup, and recovery.
B. Hands-on experience in database development and administration, including schema design, SQL
development, query optimization, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
C. Strong expertise in writing complex, efficient, and optimized SQL queries for relational databases.
D. Strong experience developing and optimizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and

E. Deep understanding of RDBMS fundamentals, database architecture, indexing, transactions,

Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of database solutions using MySQL and
PostgreSQL. Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views,
indexes, and other database objects.
• Define and enforce database development standards, coding practices, naming conventions, and
architectural patterns. Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and reliable.
• Design and review logical and physical data models, schemas, ER diagrams, normalized databases,
and dimensional models such as star and snowflake schemas. Ensure data integrity, consistency,
and quality.
• Administer, configure, monitor, and optimize MySQL on AWS RDS, including replication, high
availability, backup, recovery, failover, capacity planning, and database scaling.
• Develop, administer, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing,
query optimization, performance tuning, backup, recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Identify and resolve database performance issues such as slow queries, poor execution plans,
indexing problems, locking, deadlocks, transaction issues, and resource bottlenecks. Perform root
cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
• Implement database security and access controls and maintain backup, recovery, replication, high
availability, and disaster recovery strategies. Support RPO/RTO requirements and participate in
recovery and failover testing.
• Monitor database health, performance, storage, connections, replication, and resource usage. •Establish performance baselines and support production incidents, troubleshooting, and
preventive actions.
• Support database migrations, upgrades, modernization, and cloud adoption initiatives, including
migration to AWS RDS where required.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements. Create
meaningful KPIs, metrics, and DAX measures and convert business requirements into actionable BI
solutions.
• Build Power BI semantic/data models with relationships, measures, hierarchies, and dimensional
structures. Optimize DAX, queries, models, refresh processes, and report performance for large
datasets.
• Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and insights.
Validate and reconcile Power BI reports and metrics with source database data to ensure accuracy.
• Publish and manage Power BI reports and semantic models using Power BI Service, including
workspaces, scheduled/incremental refreshes, gateways, deployment, and Row-Level Security
(RLS) where required.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior database developers, conduct code reviews,
manage database development tasks, and work with architects, product managers, developers,
analysts, and business stakeholders on technical and reporting requirements.
• Maintain clear documentation for database architecture, data models, development standards,
operational procedures, security, backup/recovery, troubleshooting, and BI solutions. Promote
data governance, quality, and best practices across teams.

Required Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a
related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in database development, database engineering, or database
architecture, with significant experience in a senior or lead capacity.
• Extensive hands-on experience with MySQL database development and administration.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL on AWS RDS, including administration, performance tuning,
replication, high availability, monitoring, backup, recovery, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database development and administration, including
schema design, SQL development, query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, backup,
recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Expert-level proficiency in advanced SQL, including complex joins, subqueries, CTEs, window
functions, aggregations, execution plans, and query optimization.
• Strong experience developing and optimizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and
other database objects.
• Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance database solutions.
• Strong knowledge of database schema design, normalization, indexing, transactions, concurrency,
data integrity, and RDBMS concepts.
• Experience developing ER diagrams, logical and physical data models, database scripts, and data
extraction processes.
• Experience with database security, backup, disaster recovery, replication, failover, and high
availability solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, including interactive dashboards and reports, DAX-based
metrics and KPIs, data analysis, and business reporting.
• Strong proficiency in DAX and experience with Power BI semantic models, Power Query, Power BI
Service, workspaces, refreshes, gateways, and report performance optimization.
• Experience integrating Power BI with MySQL and other enterprise data sources.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, code review, and project coordination experience.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Git and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills
• Experience with AWS cloud architecture and database modernization.
• Experience migrating databases from on-premises environments to AWS RDS.
• Experience with cross-region replication and disaster recovery architectures.
• Knowledge of distributed transactions, consistency models, partitioning, and sharding.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data pipelines, CDC, and data warehousing.
• Experience with database CI/CD tools such as Flyway, Liquibase, or equivalent.
• Experience with automated database testing and performance/load testing.
