Translayte helps individuals and businesses access professional translation services worldwide, and we’re looking for a hands-on Finance Lead to oversee financial planning, strengthen reporting and support informed business decisions as we grow

This role combines strategic financial ownership with day-to-day oversight, working closely with leadership and department leads to manage budgets, improve profitability and plan for future investment

What you’ll do

• Lead budgeting and financial planning — Own annual budgets, rolling forecasts and longer-term financial plans, aligning department spending with business priorities

• Build CAPEX and OPEX projections — Forecast capital investment and operating expenditure, assess proposed spending and plan for its impact on cash flow and profitability

• Manage cash flow and working capital — Maintain cash flow forecasts, anticipate funding needs and oversee receivables, payables and payment schedules

• Deliver management reporting — Produce accurate monthly reporting covering profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and key financial indicators, with clear commentary for leadership

• Analyse performance against budget — Investigate variances, identify financial risks and opportunities, and recommend practical corrective actions

• Oversee UK accounting and reporting — Maintain accounts in line with applicable UK accounting requirements and coordinate statutory accounts, Companies House filings and HMRC obligations with external accountants or advisers

• Coordinate tax and VAT requirements — Support accurate calculations, reconciliations and timely submissions, working with advisers on UK and relevant cross-border matters

• Strengthen financial controls — Establish clear approval processes, spending limits, reconciliations and documentation standards to improve accuracy and accountability

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations — Coordinate invoicing, collections, supplier and contractor payments, payroll inputs and month-end close activities

• Evaluate profitability and investment decisions — Analyse margins by service, market and customer segment, and assess pricing, hiring plans and proposed investments through financial modelling

• Support an international business — Monitor foreign exchange exposure, payment processing costs and multi-currency transactions across customers, contractors and suppliers

• Improve finance systems and processes — Streamline reporting, strengthen data quality and introduce useful automation as the business scales

• Lead finance delivery — Coordinate internal finance contributors and external partners, set deadlines and ensure leadership receives reliable financial information on time

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in a Finance Lead, Finance Manager or similar role with ownership of budgeting, forecasting and reporting
• Strong working knowledge of UK accounting practices, statutory reporting and tax compliance processes
• Practical experience building CAPEX and OPEX projections, cash flow forecasts and financial models
• Confidence interpreting financial results and explaining their business implications to non-finance colleagues
• Experience with multi-currency transactions and international operations
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills and experience with accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and a proactive approach to improving financial controls
• A relevant accounting or finance qualification, with ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent preferred
• The ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a remote team
