Business Analyst

The Business Analyst sits within Engineering and works between Patient Affordability business teams, pharmaceutical manufacturer clients, and the engineering and data teams that build Paysign's patient affordability platforms. This role owns requirements from elicitation and process analysis through user acceptance testing and release. Hands-on patient affordability experience is required, along with the ability to explain technical detail to business teams and business needs to engineers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Lead requirements elicitation with Patient Affordability teams and manufacturer clients through workshops and interviews, and validate and document business, functional, data, integration, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Question requested solutions to confirm the underlying business problem before requirements are written.
• Map current- and future-state workflows across enrollment, eligibility, benefit configuration, claims adjudication, payment, and reporting.
• Perform gap, root-cause, and impact analyses using production data and issue history, and recommend solutions.
• Work with Patient Affordability subject-matter experts to turn benefit designs and client commitments into system requirements.
• Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, business rules, and functional specifications.
• Define data mappings, validation rules, exception handling, and reconciliation requirements.
• Incorporate HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and contractual obligations into requirements, and support related audit evidence requests.
• Maintain requirements traceability and documentation, including business requirements documents, functional specifications, decision logs, and data mappings.
• Act as the requirements contact for Agile or hybrid delivery teams during development and testing.
• Assess change requests and communicate impacts to scope, timeline, risk, and client commitments.
• Own user acceptance testing, including test scenarios, defect triage, retesting, and business sign-off.
• Confirm delivered functionality matches approved requirements after release.
• Present findings, options, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.
• Escalate material scope changes, unresolved business-team conflicts, client-impacting risks, and privacy or security concerns.

Organizational Interactions

• Project Sponsor: Approves major scope and timeline decisions and resolves business priority conflicts the Business Analyst escalates.
• IT Project Manager: Owns project plans and delivery schedules. Partners with the Business Analyst on change requests and coordinates UAT timing.
• Patient Affordability Leadership and Operations: Primary business partner. Provides program requirements and subject-matter expertise.
• Product, Engineering, Data, and Quality Assurance: Build and test solutions against the requirements this role owns.
• Client Services: Owns ongoing client relationships and commitments.
• Compliance, Information Security, and Legal: Review requirements for privacy, security, and contract obligations.
• Manufacturer Clients and External Partners: Client contacts and, as assigned, hub, pharmacy, claims-processing, and technology partners.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Requirements elicitation and documentation, including user stories and acceptance criteria
• Process modeling, gap analysis, data mapping, and impact analysis
• Facilitating workshops and decision meetings, including with senior leaders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and internal teams
• Proficiency with project tracking and documentation tools
• Working knowledge of HIPAA, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and secure software delivery practices preferred
• Working knowledge of pharmacy claims adjudication, NCPDP transactions, copay program business rules, or patient enrollment and eligibility workflows preferred
• SQL and reporting or data visualization tools such as Tableau preferred
• Jira and Confluence experience preferred
• Familiarity with AWS-hosted software, APIs, data integrations, and CI/CD concepts preferred

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, computer science, or a related field
• Five or more years of business analysis experience in a software, technology, healthcare, or regulated-services environment
• Pharmaceutical patient affordability experience, such as copay assistance, patient support programs, hub services, pharmacy claims, or benefit administration
• Experience in Agile or hybrid delivery environments
• CBAP, CCBA, or PMI-PBA certification preferred
• Fintech, payment processing, healthcare technology, or other regulated industry experience preferred
• Experience with client implementations, program launches, onboarding, or production issue analysis preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities/accountabilities.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an indoor office environment using standard office equipment.
• General office physical requirements include frequent sitting, extensive computer and keyboard use, walking and standing for long periods, and lifting less than 20 pounds.
• Data Privacy: This role handles PHI, PII, confidential client information, and payment data and must follow Paysign privacy and security policies, including incident reporting.

Travel: This position does not normally require overnight travel.

Remote Work: This position is on-site in Henderson, NV, and is not eligible for remote work.
