⚡ Electrical Controls Engineer I | Carol Stream, IL (On-site)
💰 Pay range: [70k-75k] per year
Serac Inc. builds packaging machinery, including filling, capping and cup-filling systems, for customers around the world. We're looking for an early-career controls engineer who wants to own the electrical side of a machine from design through startup, rather than just maintaining one on a plant floor.
🔧 What You'll Do
- Turn customer specifications into electrical designs, drawings and machine programs
- Program PLCs and HMIs in Allen-Bradley Studio 5000
- Build and manage the project BOM in PLM so purchasing demand is accurate
- Test machine programs and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), keeping drawings and documentation current
- Work with the mechanical and operations teams on machine startup and site acceptance at customer sites
- Work with our engineering headquarters in France to share designs, standards and best practices
🎯 What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 0-2 years in machine controls design. Co-op and internship experience counts
- PLC and HMI programming experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Studio 5000)
- Able to read and create electrical schematics and panel layouts in CAD (EPLAN P8 preferred)
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA and ANSI standards, plus a basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics
- Strong organization, prioritization and communication skills, with fluency in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
➕ Nice to Have
- Hands-on Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix experience
- Experience with QAD or SmarTeam
- French language skills
✈️ Travel and Work Environment
- Office and climate-controlled shop floor
- Domestic and international travel, including overnight trips, for customer startups and training
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs and to bend, kneel and reach on the shop floor
