Senior Application Engineer

Translarity is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Applications Engineer to join our team and serve as a key technical interface between our customers, Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing organizations.

This is a highly customer-facing role for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, developing customer relationships, supporting new opportunities, and working with a cross-functional team to deliver solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the semiconductor industry, semiconductor test, wafer probing, probe cards, semiconductor equipment, or a related technical field. Direct probe-card experience is highly desirable, but we are also interested in technically strong candidates with excellent customer-facing and problem-solving skills who can learn the probe-card technology.

You will have the opportunity to work with leading semiconductor companies on challenging applications involving advanced probe-card technologies, including MEMS, vertical, micro-cantilever, ST's, and other wafer-level test solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical contact for assigned customers and opportunities.
• Support customers from initial technical discussions and RFQs through quotation, design, qualification, delivery, and post-sale support.
• Understand customer device, wafer, tester, probing, electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
• Work closely with Translarity Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to develop practical customer solutions.
• Review customer technical documentation, drawings, specifications, pad layouts, bump information, tester interfaces, and other application requirements.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and help translate their requirements into actionable internal specifications.
• Support new product and technology opportunities and identify potential applications for Translarity's probe-card solutions.
• Assist Sales with technical presentations, customer meetings, RFQs, quotations, and opportunity development.
• Troubleshoot customer application issues and coordinate root-cause investigations with internal technical teams.
• Support customer evaluations, qualifications, demonstrations, and product introductions.
• Visit customer sites as required to support technical activities and develop relationships.
• Maintain accurate opportunity, project, and customer information within company systems.
• Help identify opportunities for repeat business, product standardization, and expansion within existing accounts.
• Represent Translarity professionally with customers and at industry events.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
• Experience in the semiconductor, semiconductor equipment, electronics, test, or related technical industry.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer-facing and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with both customers and internal engineering/manufacturing teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30–40% as business needs require.

Preferred

• Experience with semiconductor wafer probing or probe cards.
• Applications Engineering, Field Applications Engineering, Technical Support Engineering experience.
• Experience with semiconductor test equipment and/or wafer sort.
• Experience with MEMS, vertical, cantilever, or other probe technologies.
• Familiarity with Advantest, Teradyne, or other semiconductor test platforms.
• Experience supporting semiconductor customers through technical qualification processes.
• Experience working with semiconductor device manufacturers, OSATs, or test house organizations.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine technical capability with strong customer skills.

You don't necessarily need to be a probe-card expert on day one. We can develop product and application knowledge. What is more difficult to teach is the ability to communicate with customers, understand their problems, ask the right technical questions, build trust, and work internally to get the customer a solution.
