Forward Deployment Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer for a full-time position with our client located in Bloomington, IN. We are seeking a Forward Deployment Engineer who will serve as the technical bridge between business stakeholders, end users, data and AI teams, and software engineering. This individual will work directly with customers and internal teams to understand complex business challenges, rapidly develop practical solutions, and deploy those solutions into production environments.

Salary Range: $130,000/year to $150,000 per year. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Forward Deployment Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Partner directly with business stakeholders and end users to understand operational challenges, technical requirements, and desired outcomes.
• Translate complex or ambiguous business problems into clear technical requirements and implementation plans.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy production-ready software, AI, data, and automation solutions.
• Build rapid prototypes and proofs of concept to validate ideas and gather user feedback.
• Integrate solutions with existing applications, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
• Operationalize AI, machine learning, analytics, and automation capabilities within business workflows.
• Work across frontend, backend, data, integration, and cloud technologies as needed.
• Collaborate with software engineering, data, IT, security, product, and business teams.
• Identify the best-fit technical solution while avoiding unnecessary complexity and overengineering.
• Break down strategic objectives into clear, actionable engineering deliverables.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and remove barriers that could affect implementation or adoption.
• Ensure solutions meet applicable security, privacy, performance, and regulatory requirements.
• Gather feedback from users and communicate product insights to engineering and product teams.
• Document technical designs, integrations, deployment procedures, and support requirements.
• Drive assigned solutions from initial discovery through successful production deployment.
• Track progress, maintain accountability, and communicate risks, decisions, and outcomes to stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Significant experience in software engineering, application development, product engineering, or a closely related technical environment.
• Proven experience designing, building, and deploying software solutions into production.
• Strong programming experience with languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar technologies.
• Experience working with APIs, databases, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and system integrations.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Experience building prototypes and rapidly iterating based on customer or user feedback.
• Ability to work across the software development lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, data, IT, security, product, and business teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex challenges into clear, actionable steps.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and drive work to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to establish credibility and trusted working relationships.
• Willingness to work closely with customers and users in their operating environments.
• Ability to prioritize measurable business value while avoiding unnecessary technical complexity.
