Software Engineer, Backend (NestJS / PostgreSQL), Early-Stage Startup (Remote, IST/ET overlap)

We're a young, pre-product startup building a consumer platform from the ground up, led by a founder based in the US. We move fast and need someone who thrives on urgency and takes real ownership, this is early-stage building, not maintaining an existing system.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using NestJS, often from scratch
• Model and manage data in PostgreSQL, with attention to performance and data integrity
• Build and document APIs consumed by the frontend and mobile apps
• Take ownership of your modules end to end, from architecture decisions to execution
• Handle authentication, authorization, and general system reliability
• Move fast, iterate quickly, and adjust as the product direction evolves

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of experience building backend systems with NestJS or a similar Node.js framework
• Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization
• A genuine sense of urgency and ownership, comfortable operating in an undefined, pre-product environment
• Comfortable working directly with a small team, minimal handholding
• Strong sense of logic and structured problem-solving
• Overlap availability across IST and ET working hours

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS
• Experience with GenAI integrations
• Prior experience at an early-stage or pre-product startup
