Senior Full Stack Engineer (Next.js and Supabase)

Brand Besties is a premium experiential staffing company in Austin, Texas. Brands come to us when a product launch, a festival activation or a national tour needs real people who represent them well, and we book the Brand Ambassadors who make that happen.

The part most people never see is the software. Every booking, schedule, check in, approval, payment and client review runs through a platform we build in house. When it works, a Brand Ambassador finishes a Saturday on site and is paid accurately without anyone chasing a spreadsheet. That platform is what you would work on.

The role

You would be the engineer for a production system that a real business runs on. Not a greenfield rewrite, and not a ticket queue either. Today the platform carries more than 20,000 contractor profiles, hundreds of client organizations, and a payment pipeline that reaches accounting and banking systems, all on roughly 180,000 lines of TypeScript and close to 600 database migrations.

You would own meaningful parts of it end to end: the data model, the SQL, the API surface, the screens people use at 6:00 AM on an activation site, and the question of whether what shipped is actually correct. We are a small team. That is the appeal and it is also the requirement.

What you would own

• The money path. A schedule becomes attendance, attendance becomes a bill, a bill becomes an accounting record, and that becomes a payment with a receipt in someone's inbox. Keeping those systems honest with each other is the most interesting problem in the codebase.
• The authorization model. Much of our access control lives in Postgres, in row level security policies and database functions rather than only in application code.
• Three products in one codebase. An operator console, a mobile PWA used on site with unreliable venue wifi, and a client portal.
• The integrations. Accounting, payments, electronic signature, transactional email, mapping. Every one of them can be slow, wrong or down while our screens still have to tell the truth.

Our stack

Next.js App Router, React, TypeScript, Tailwind, TanStack. Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Storage), PostgREST, server actions. Postgres functions, triggers and row level security. Vercel, GitHub Actions, pnpm, Biome, Jest, Playwright. Sentry and PostHog. AI coding agents in the terminal and in CI, used daily and reviewed like any other contributor.

What we are looking for

• 4 or more years building and running production web applications, with real ownership of something people depended on.
• Deep, practical Postgres. Schema design, indexing, functions, triggers, transactions, and you can explain how row level security actually evaluates.
• A real security model in your head for database backed APIs. Least privilege by habit, not by reminder.
• Migration discipline on a live database.
• You model workflows as explicit state machines, especially where money is involved, including the failure and partial states.
• Idempotency and reconciliation instincts. You assume any third party call can be retried, duplicated or silently half applied.
• Strong Next.js App Router fundamentals and TypeScript without escape hatches.
• Code review as a craft, and professional written and spoken English.

Nice to have: payments or accounting integrations, multi tenant systems, offline first or PWA work, and a habit of making things nobody assigned to you. A side project, something open source, a business you started, an instrument you play.

How the engagement works

• Independent contractor engagement, full time hours, ongoing. You invoice us and are paid in USD.
• Remote from Argentina, Mexico or Colombia, with meaningful daily overlap with Central Time, roughly 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM CT.
• Compensation is in USD and we discuss it in the first conversation. Tell us your expectation when you write to us and we will tell you straight away whether we are in the same range.

How we will assess you

No trivia and no whiteboard algorithms. A conversation about a system you owned, a short design exercise spanning a table, a policy, an API surface and a screen, and a code reading session on a real diff from our repository.
