Full Stack TypeScript Developer — Node/React (Contract)

Location: St. Louis, MO — onsite 5 days/week

Type: Contract — up to $93/hr

Duration: 12 months — start 10/5/2026 through 10/4/2027

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Full Stack TypeScript Developer to build and support the software that runs their automated laboratory and greenhouse equipment. You will write the Node and React applications that talk to physical machinery, design the databases and JSON APIs behind them, and own the work end to end — requirements from the people using the systems, development, debugging, test analysis, implementation, support and enhancement.

This is a fast-paced R&D environment, and the team expects a wide degree of creativity and latitude rather than tickets handed down a queue. You will sit close to the scientists and operators who use what you build, and their feedback shapes the product design and specification process. If you’d rather see your code move real equipment than ship another internal dashboard, this is that role.

Two things to know before you apply. This role is onsite five days a week at a research site in west St. Louis County — there is no remote or hybrid option. And you will work alongside teams in a greenhouse environment, which means high temperatures, elevated humidity and plant pollen as part of the job. It is not a desk-only position.

What You’ll Do

• Build systems in TypeScript, Node and React that interact with automated machinery
• Design relational databases, SQL queries and JSON APIs
• Gather requirements directly from the end users who run the automated systems
• Develop, debug, analyze test results and implement software for automated research equipment
• Support and enhance existing automated system software in production
• Provide feedback into product design and specification

What You Need

• 5+ years in a programming field, database design or server administration
• 2+ years programming in JavaScript/TypeScript
• Proficiency in SQL query development and relational database design
• Proficiency in JSON API development
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work onsite in the St. Louis area five days a week, and comfortable working in greenhouse conditions — heat, humidity and pollen
