About the Role

Zorqiva is an early-stage startup building modern digital products. We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer who enjoys building the APIs, services, and data systems that power reliable web and mobile applications.

You will work closely with our engineering, product, and mobile-development teams to ship real features, improve the platform, and grow quickly in a hands-on startup environment. We are looking for someone who is curious, reliable, detail-oriented, and excited to learn by building.

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain backend services using Node.js and JavaScript or TypeScript.
Design, develop, test, and document REST APIs for Zorqiva web and mobile applications.
Work with databases to store, retrieve, update, and secure application data.
Integrate backend services with mobile applications, frontend features, and third-party APIs.
Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, and secure data-access patterns.
Debug backend issues and help improve service reliability, performance, and scalability.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Collaborate through GitHub pull requests, code reviews, and product discussions.

What We’re Looking For

Hands-on Node.js or backend-development experience through projects, internships, freelance work, coursework, or previous roles.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, Node.js, and asynchronous programming.
Familiarity with REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON data.
Familiarity with at least one database system, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase, or Supabase.
Working knowledge of Git and pull-request-based development workflows.
Understanding of core backend concepts, including API design, data modeling, authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn.
Comfortable working in a fast-moving, remote startup environment.
Currently located in the United States and authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to Have

Experience with Express.js, NestJS, Fastify, or another Node.js backend framework.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Prisma, Sequelize, Mongoose, Firebase, Supabase, or Redis.
Familiarity with JWT, OAuth, role-based access control, password hashing, and secure API design.
Experience deploying backend services using AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Vercel, Render, Railway, Docker, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with unit testing, API testing, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, or error-tracking tools.
Experience building backend services for mobile apps, SaaS products, startup products, or customer-facing applications.
