EFI is looking for an Inkjet Applications Engineering Intern to join us at our Ypsilanti, Michigan location through the Spring of 2027. This internship opportunity will provide hands-on experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team that supports R&D for product development of ink and inkjet printing technologies. As an intern, you will gain valuable experience conducting jetting experiments, analyzing ink and printhead performance, and assisting in the development of electromechanical and fluidic systems to support testing.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in hands-on laboratory experiments to evaluate new inks, printheads, and system configurations
  • Support the generation of technical reports and documentation summarizing test results and findings
  • Collaborate with R&D teams, ink formulators, and engineers to learn about ink and printhead performance optimization
  • Help design, develop, and maintain test stands, ink delivery systems, and support equipment used in experiments
  • Gain exposure to a fast-paced R&D environment supporting inkjet ink development
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to ongoing projects

You May Be a Good Fit If You Have

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Interest in inkjet printing technology, fluidic systems, or electromechanical devices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of data analysis and technical documentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
