Senior Software Engineer – AWS / API Development

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join an enterprise technology team focused on developing and modernizing cloud-based applications and integration solutions. This role will have a strong emphasis on AWS development, Node.js, APIs, serverless technologies, and system integration.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can take architectural concepts and turn them into scalable, production-ready solutions. In addition to development responsibilities, this person will serve as a technical resource for other engineers, participate in code reviews, and help establish strong development practices across the team.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise software applications and integrations.
• Translate technical architecture and solution designs into maintainable, production-ready code.
• Build and enhance cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS technologies and serverless architecture.
• Develop and optimize RESTful APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Create integrations that connect applications, services, and enterprise data sources.
• Participate in application modernization and system integration initiatives.
• Review code and provide technical guidance and recommendations to other developers.
• Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues and help identify long-term solutions.
• Ensure development work aligns with established architecture, security, accessibility, usability, and engineering standards.
• Partner with architects, engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to evaluate technical solutions.
• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience developing applications and solutions within AWS environments.
• Demonstrated ability to take an architectural design and translate it into working software solutions.
• Strong development experience with Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with AWS technologies such as Lambda and AWS Glue.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs and web services.
• Experience identifying and resolving API performance and scalability challenges.
• Solid understanding of enterprise application integration and distributed systems.
• Experience conducting code reviews and providing meaningful technical guidance to junior or less experienced developers.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Experience collaborating with distributed or globally based development teams.
• Background working with enterprise-scale applications and complex system integrations.
• Experience working within highly regulated industries such as insurance, healthcare, or financial services is beneficial.
