About the role

JRSS built the enterprise data and analytics platform for a federal public health agency. We are hiring an Azure Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and operate the Azure environments underneath it — landing zones, networking, identity, governance, and the Infrastructure-as-Code that keeps a large estate consistent as it grows.

You will work alongside platform engineers, developers and security teams to stand up and maintain secure Azure infrastructure, automate what is currently manual, and keep the environment coherent, compliant and cost-effective.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain Azure infrastructure — subscriptions, landing zones, resource organization, Azure Policy and governance standards.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and/or Bicep, with reusable modules, managed state and peer-reviewed changes.
• Implement and support Azure networking: VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, private endpoints, DNS, VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute.
• Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) — RBAC, conditional access, service principals, managed identities and on-premises directory integration.
• Deploy and support Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized workloads.
• Automate provisioning and cloud operations using PowerShell, Bash or Python, and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards and cost management across the Azure estate.
• Apply security and compliance controls, support audit and accreditation activities, and manage certificate lifecycle and key rotation.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking and platform issues, and document architecture, procedures and operational runbooks.

Required qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud operations or a similar role.
• 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience across compute, storage, networking and identity.
• Hands-on Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform or Bicep/ARM, including reusable modules and state management.
• Working knowledge of Azure networking concepts and strong troubleshooting ability.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Active Directory integration.
• Scripting and automation in PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal Public Trust / Suitability determination based on client requirements.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred qualifications

• Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-500.
• Production Kubernetes / AKS administration.
• Azure Government or FedRAMP delivery experience.
• Observability tooling — Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic or Splunk.
• Operational dashboards and reporting, with Power BI preferred.
• Zero-trust architecture implementation.
• Experience supporting federal programs, particularly public health or health data systems.
• Use of agentic coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Codex for infrastructure automation.

Where you will work

This role is remote within the United States, working core Eastern business hours. JRSS is headquartered in Tampa, FL with an Atlanta presence, and candidates in the Atlanta metro area are preferred — but the role is open to remote candidates across the U.S.
