Role Description
The Information Technology Network Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kansas City, MO. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure to support Bluebird Fiber’s internal IT services, including switches, firewalls, and related hardware. The Network Engineer monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates incident resolution to ensure high availability and optimal service levels. Day-to-day tasks include configuring network devices, managing upgrades and changes, performing security hardening, documenting configurations and procedures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on customer deployments and internal projects. The individual in this role also assists with capacity planning, participates in on-call support rotations, and follows established standards and best practices for network reliability and security.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Administration for designing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise-grade network environments spanning multiple sites.
- Candidates should possess skills in Network Security and Information Technology to implement secure architectures, protect data, and support infrastructure across multiple platforms.
- Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting abilities to diagnose complex network issues, perform root-cause analysis, and restore services efficiently.
- Experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS) and familiarity with fiber-based and high-bandwidth networks is highly beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, VPN technologies, Aruba Clearpass, Aruba Central, and monitoring tools (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, log analysis) is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent vendor-neutral credentials, and a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field are advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site in Kansas City, MO, collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
