Duration: 6 + months Project Pacific time zone office hours

Location: Remote, US based only.

Candidate need to be on our W2.

Overview

Client is staffing backend engineers for an engineering program at a fintech client.

We are an AI-first engineering team building and shipping production systems across distributed architecture and financial payment flows.

Must have

8+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Java expertise

Direct payments industry experience, with deep understanding of financial payment flows and distributed systems

Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native architecture, plus Docker and containerized application development

Experience designing and owning complex backend systems end to end, from HLD through production verification

Experience with MySQL, Oracle, or similar relational databases at scale

Proficiency with AI tools like Claude as part of everyday engineering workflow, and picking up new domains and context quickly

Strong documentation habits: runbooks, testing guides, and knowledge sharing come naturally

Nice to have

Familiarity with risk, fraud, or compliance systems

Experience with Elixir or working in a multi-language environment
