Role: Lead Salesforce Developer

Location: 100% Remote

Client: Sentara Health

Technical Architecture & Design

• Own end-to-end solution design across Salesforce clouds (Sales, Service, Experience, Health, etc.), Omni Studio.
• Define scalable design aligned with Client's standards and architecture

Ensure best practices for:

• Data model design
• Integration patterns (APIs, middleware)
• Security and sharing model
• Event-driven architecture (Platform Events where applicable)
• Audit trails and traceability
• Review and approve all high-level and low-level designs with a “Config First” approach
• Ensure compliance with healthcare standards (HIPAA alignment at design level)

Development Leadership

Provide hands-on guidance for:

• Apex, Lightning (LWC/Aura), Flows, Omni Scripts, Data Raptors
• Integrations and APIs including Credentialing platforms and Third-party verification APIs
• Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards (Can be through tools)
• Ensure performance optimization and governor limit compliance
• Drive reusable component development

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Lead a team of developers, admins, and QA resources
• Mentor junior developers and enforce best practices
• Help Allocate tasks and track progress across sprints
• Act as escalation point for technical blockers

Stakeholder & Business Collaboration

Work with business analysts and product owners to:

• Refine requirements
• Translate business needs into technical solutions
• Participate in client discussions and architecture reviews
• Provide effort estimates and technical feasibility assessment

Release Management & DevOps

Help Implement deployment strategy (CI/CD, DevOps tools like Copado/Gearset) as per Sentara standards

Help Oversee:

• Code versioning (Git)
• Environment strategy (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod)
• Ensure smooth releases with minimal production issues
• Align with DevOps practices

Quality, Governance & Compliance

Ensure adherence to:

• Salesforce best practices
• Enterprise architecture guidelines
• Review security policies, roles, profiles, and data access
• Maintain technical documentation (design docs, runbooks – in Confluence)
• Implement governance for reusable assets and standards
• Ensure PHI data protection

Integration & Data Strategy

• Oversee integrations with external systems (REST, SOAP, middleware)
• Ensure reliable data migration and data quality controls
• Design robust error handling, reconciliation reporting and monitoring frameworks

Performance & Support Oversight

• Help Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Provide root cause analysis for critical incidents
• Drive continuous improvement and optimization

Innovation & Platform Strategy

• Evaluate new Salesforce features (e.g., AI, automation)
• Recommend improvements for:
• Automation (Flows vs code)
• Cost optimization
• Platform scalability

Communication and Ownership

• Maintain a proactive approach to communication
• Be a self-starter and not waiting to be instructed
• Proactively take charge of areas where technical leadership
