Role Description The Agile System Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Chantilly, VA. This position is responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining complex systems within agile delivery frameworks, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as developers, security engineers, and project managers. Daily responsibilities include analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, supporting configuration and deployment activities, and ensuring solutions meet security and performance standards. The Agile System Engineer participates in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical reviews, while troubleshooting system issues and improving processes through continuous feedback. This role also supports documentation of system designs and contributes to best practices that enhance mission readiness and system reliability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with systems engineering practices, including requirements analysis, system architecture, integration, and validation
- Hands-on experience working in Agile environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), including participation in sprints, ceremonies, and iterative delivery
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure system design, and risk management for mission-critical environments
- Proficiency with system configuration, automation, and troubleshooting across operating systems, networks, and cloud or virtualized infrastructures
- Ability to create clear technical documentation, diagrams, and specifications for complex systems and workflows
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary, highly cleared teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent military or professional experience considered
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., INCOSE, SAFe, Scrum, Security+, CISSP) are beneficial
- Eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance; existing clearance at an appropriate level is highly desirable
