Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Java / Angular Developer with Kafka to design, develop, and modernize high-throughput, low-latency applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, REST APIs, and microservices.

The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience, cloud-native application expertise, DevOps knowledge, and experience working with Agile teams. This role will also contribute to application modernization, Section 508 compliance, CI/CD improvements, technical design discussions, and mentoring junior and mid-level developers.

This role is expected to be onsite 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and REST APIs.
• Develop scalable, cloud-native microservices and Single-Page Applications.
• Build responsive and Section 508-compliant web applications.
• Develop modern UI components using Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, AJAX, and jQuery.
• Design and develop RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket, Maven, and related tools.
• Design and deploy cloud-native applications using AWS and PostgreSQL.
• Develop unit tests using JUnit, Mockito, and other testing frameworks.
• Participate in customer technical and architecture discussions.
• Identify opportunities to improve application architecture, code quality, and development processes.
• Collaborate with business analysts, QA, project managers, and engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and React.
• Strong Java/JEE design and development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Angular 9+.
• Experience designing high-throughput and low-latency applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and Single-Page Applications.
• Experience developing responsive web applications and understanding browser compatibility.
• Experience deploying cloud-native applications on AWS with PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, Kafka Connect, and Kafka Streams.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Git/Bitbucket, Jira, Nexus, Maven, SonarQube, Fortify, and UrbanCode Deploy.
• Experience with REST/SOAP, XML, JSON, JAX-WS, AXIS, Jersey, and CXF.
• Experience with OAuth2/JWT and web application security.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, TDD, BDD, and Cucumber.
• Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, DB2, Tomcat, and WebSphere.
• Experience using SonarQube and addressing bugs, vulnerabilities, hotspots, and technical debt.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience optimizing Kafka performance, replication, partitioning, and message retention.
• Knowledge of current AI technologies and experience identifying opportunities to apply AI to existing application architectures.
• Experience implementing Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Experience preparing technical white papers and system design documents.
• Prior experience working on federal or state government IT projects.
• Experience with containerization and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Twelve-Factor App methodology and cloud-native architecture.
