Job Summary
This role will team with Senior Preconstruction Managers by providing the engineering, technical, pricing and administrative support related to all phases of the preconstruction effort. This is a support position, and introduction into preconstruction, with tremendous opportunity for advancement into the Preconstruction Manager position.
This position helps support the overall sales objectives of MTech Mechanical. Utilizes selling, pricing, engineering and management skills to support MTech Mechanical’s Preconstruction team in procuring work and designing jobs to satisfy the client’s needs and achieve a fair profit for the company. This opportunity gives the individual a broad level of experience as well as a more technical and sales foundation for individual growth as they advance their career with MTech.
Essential Job Function:
- Assist the PreConstruction team with project pursuits, in the form of conceptual designs, one-lines, preliminary system selections and energy analysis, code reviews, and support and attendance at project interviews.
- Support on developing and maintaining general contractor and end user client base
- Demonstrates understanding of other business unit processes and supports all processes to achieve business unit goals
- Supports overall sales objectives by meeting assigned gross margin dollars and gross margin % objectives
- Properly price products to meet the objectives of selling a job and ensuring fair profit for MTech Mechanical
- Prepare sales proposals for potential clients and prospects
- Manage estimating team to produce complete and accurate estimates
- Maintain continual contact with the projects participated throughout development and construction, including review of job costs and personal communication with the Project Engineer, Project Managers and Owner
- Effectively participate on MTech Mechanical team to satisfy the client’s needs
- Communicate effectively with internal and external clients
- Understand and establish positive and functional job relationships
- Meet with clients to gather information and coordinate plans
- Coordinate with other MTech Mechanical employees as required in the resolution of project related problems and issues
- Support the total quality and team based efforts. Identify and respond to the needs of internal and external clients 100% of the time
- Work within the guidelines of the safety and employee policy
- Conduct building surveys to ascertain existing conditions and constraints for new project pursuits.
- Works with other departments to provide technical expertise in a support role.
Provide engineering support for projects at early design phases.
Perform block loads
Size major equipment
Size and layout distribution systems as desired
Perform zone maps for terminal systems
Identify and fill project scope gaps
Track down unknown information from general contractors and engineers
Identify any areas of change from previous estimate iterations
Have the ability to set up, compile and review a conceptual estimate
Have the ability to set up, facilitate and review a final estimate
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3-10 years working with mechanical systems and industrial systems
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture Engineering
- Must be approved to drive per MTech’s driving standards and insurance carrier
- Very strong understanding of mechanical equipment/systems applications
- Ability to discuss technical aspects of mechanical systems to internal partners and clients
- Working knowledge of architectural, electrical, structural, and fire protection drawings
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication both written and verbal
