Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- The Engine Components and Thermal Systems (ECTS) structural analysis team of Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) at Client Inc. is seeking a structural analyst. The team supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and Current Product Improvement (CPI) activities for cooling and aftertreatment components and systems. The analyses the team performs can be very challenging, involving complex phenomena such as engine and machine vibration and forced response, material nonlinearities, exotic materials and complex geometries.
Typical task breakdown:
Perform structural system analysis and simulation for structural integrity, response, performance, and service life of aftertreatment and/or cooling components and systems
Provide product design and development teams with timely conclusions and best actionable recommendations and solutions
Work to continuously improve the accuracy of analysis processes and tools Required Skills /Qualifications (skills or background required to do the job)
Interaction with team:
Constantly work with Cooling design teams and aftertreatment design teams
Work with test validation teams
Education & Experience Required:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Related Engineering Field plus 5-7
MS similarly plus 2-4
PhD similarly plus 1-2
No cap on experience
Industrial experience in structural analysis, preferably with a focus on static and/or dynamic analysis
Technical Skills
(Required)
Understanding of dynamics, material properties and fatigue
Experience with structural simulations for static, vibration, transient dynamic, boundary and material nonlinear, fracture and fatigue life, bolted joint, and welded structures
Experience with ABAQUS and Hypermesh
(Desired)
Experience in machine dynamic simulation
Experiences in nonmetallic structural simulation, user defined material behavior modeling, and component interaction modeling
Experiences in machine and structural design and validation
Pro/E skills sufficient for FE model preparation
