Build products used by people around the world
Pixoate is building a fast-growing platform that makes powerful photo editor, creative and document workflows dramatically easier for everyday users, professionals and businesses ( https://pixoate.com )
We're a small, product-focused team, which means engineers here don't spend months moving tickets between departments.
You'll work directly on real customer problems, ship frequently and have meaningful ownership over what gets built.
We're looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys building complete products—not simply completing isolated development tasks.
What you'll do
- Build and ship customer-facing product features from idea to production.
- Develop reliable frontend and backend functionality.
- Improve performance, reliability and overall user experience.
- Design clean, maintainable APIs and application workflows.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues.
- Improve existing products based on user feedback and usage data.
- Review code and help maintain engineering quality.
- Work closely with product and QA to take features from specification through release.
- Identify technical problems before they become customer problems.
- Take ownership of features rather than waiting for detailed step-by-step instructions.
What we're looking for
You should have:
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience building modern web applications.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
- Experience across frontend and backend development.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs.
- Good understanding of databases and data modelling.
- Experience with authentication, permissions and common SaaS application patterns.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Git-based development and code reviews.
- Ability to independently take a feature from requirement to production.
- Good written English and ability to communicate effectively in a remote environment.
We'd especially like to hear from you if
- You've worked at an early-stage startup.
- You've independently built or launched a SaaS product.
- You care about product UX rather than seeing frontend work as simply implementing a design.
- You think about scalability, reliability and edge cases while building.
- You've integrated third-party APIs and services.
- You've worked on products involving file processing, creative tools, productivity software or AI-assisted workflows.
- You use AI development tools effectively to increase your engineering output without compromising code quality.
How we work
We're a small team, so ownership matters more than hierarchy.
You won't be measured by how many hours you appear online.
You'll be expected to:
- communicate clearly,
- deliver what you commit to,
- flag blockers early,
- test your work,
- think about the customer,
- and continuously improve what you've built.
We value people who can say:
“I found the problem, here's why it happened, and here's how I think we should solve it.”
rather than simply:
“Tell me what ticket to work on next.”
What your first 90 days could look like
First 30 days
Understand the product, users and development workflow.
Ship your first production improvements and start taking ownership of an existing product area.
By 60 days
Independently deliver meaningful features from requirement through production and help improve reliability and development velocity.
By 90 days
Own important areas of the product, identify improvements proactively and contribute meaningfully to engineering and product decisions.
Location
This is a fully remote position.
We're particularly interested in candidates located in:
USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, India, Austria
Exceptional candidates from other locations are also welcome to apply.
Because we're distributed internationally, you should be comfortable with asynchronous communication and have reasonable working-hour overlap with the rest of the team when collaboration is required.
Compensation
Competitive and based on experience, location, employment structure and demonstrated ability.
Please include your expected compensation when applying.
Interview process
We want the process to be practical and efficient.
- Application review
- Short introductory conversation
- Practical technical discussion or small assessment
- Final conversation
- Offer
We care much more about what you can build and how you think than about prestigious employers, universities or certifications.
