About the job
Join us at a pivotal moment as we expand into Reno, Nevada—an emerging high-growth data center market attracting significant hyperscale investment. We’re seeking exceptional talent to build from the ground up and play a defining role in launching a new campus, with relocation support available for the right candidate.
Career Opportunity
As Senior Security Systems Engineer, you will be the technical owner of the access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems at one of EdgeCore's data center campuses. These are lease-critical systems: when a reader or camera fails, the clock starts on customer service level obligations, so the difference between an engineer on site and a vendor truck roll is measured in revenue as well as risk. This role replaces integrator dependency with in-house capability — you will maintain, troubleshoot, document, and commission the estate yourself, escalating to integrators only for warranty and specialist work. Success looks like security systems that stay up, faults resolved on site the same day, accurate as-built documentation that exists before it is needed, and a campus that passes customer security inspections without preparation.
- Own the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems at the assigned campus.
- Perform preventive maintenance, system health checks, firmware updates, storage verification, and camera coverage validation on a defined schedule.
- Diagnose and resolve system faults on site; manage integrator warranty and specialized work when escalation is required.
- Support installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and turnover of security systems through each phase of campus expansion.
- Establish and maintain as-built documentation, device inventory, configuration standards, and change records.
- Verify that lease-driven and customer security system requirements are continuously met, and maintain the supporting evidence.
- Monitor video retention, storage capacity, and system performance, and escalate capacity or lifecycle needs before they become deficiencies.
- Partner with the Site Security Manager, Construction Security, and Enterprise Security Architecture on standards, projects, and expansion scope.
- Security is a shared responsibility. All employees are required to comply with company security policies and procedures and to help protect company information, systems, and assets in the course of their daily work.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on electronic security systems experience covering access control, IP video, and intrusion detection (required).
- Working knowledge of enterprise access control and video management platforms; Genetec Security Center (Synergis and Omnicast) strongly preferred.
- Solid IP networking fundamentals and hands-on experience with camera, reader, controller, and edge device hardware (required).
- Experience with system commissioning, troubleshooting, structured cabling, device configuration, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with security system storage, video retention requirements, and system health monitoring.
- Experience supporting security systems through construction, commissioning, and operational turnover preferred.
- Data center, colocation, or other critical infrastructure experience preferred; manufacturer certification a plus.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in electronics, information technology, engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong documentation, communication, and structured problem-solving skills; comfortable working independently on a campus.
- Ability to work occasional after-hours or on-call support and to pass required background screenings.
