Position Overview: Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect – Level 2 - 6 month Remote Contract

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect to support the modernization of its data ecosystem and implementation of a Microsoft Fabric-based data platform.

The consultant will define current-state, transition-state, and target-state data architectures, establish data integration and modeling approaches, and provide architectural guidance to support business and technology roadmaps.

Services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing current-state data architecture, data models, integrations, and data flows.
  • Defining target-state and transition-state data architectures aligned with business and technology strategies and industry best practices.
  • Developing architecture roadmaps supporting migration to Microsoft Fabric and modern data platform capabilities.
  • Designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Designing and documenting end-to-end data flows, integration patterns, and data lifecycle processes.
  • Analyzing existing systems and identifying opportunities for rationalization, modernization, and improved data quality.
  • Collaborating with data and systems architects, enterprise architects, domain managers, delivery teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between business capabilities and data architecture.
  • Establishing standards, principles, and best practices for data architecture, modeling, and governance.
  • Supporting implementation teams by providing architecture guidance, reviews, and recommendations.
  • Evaluating emerging approaches for data integration, reporting, analytics, and information management.
  • Contributing to the evolution of the enterprise data architecture and governance practices.

Resource Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience defining current-state, transition-state, and target-state data architectures and modernization roadmaps.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including:

  • OneLake

  • Lakehouse

  • Warehouses

  • Data Factory

  • Microsoft Fabric data capabilities

  • Experience in cloud-based data modernization.

  • Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.

  • Experience designing data integration, transformation, and end-to-end data flows.

  • Experience with architecture and data modeling tools, preferably Sparx Enterprise Architect.

  • Experience with business or enterprise architecture.

  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, and master data management.

  • Experience with Power BI and/or enterprise analytics.

  • Experience with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or another enterprise architecture framework.
