About the job
Sell sponsorships and memberships from inside the building they're for. £35,000 base + uncapped commission, OTE around £50,000. Full-time, on-site in Shoreditch, reporting to the Head of BizOps.
OUR OFFICE HAS A ROOFTOP, A COFFEE SHOP, AND A HUNDRED FOUNDERS IN IT
The Encode Hub on Pitfield Street is where London's startup builders actually work: a co-working space, an events venue, and, as of this September, our own coffee shop, all in one building. On any given week there's a hackathon kicking off downstairs, a partner workshop upstairs, and fish and chips being served at demo night. You'd be selling from inside it.
WHO WE ARE
Encode runs the events and community business for London's technical founders: hackathons, bootcamps and accelerators that have trained over 100,000 developers, out of our own building in Shoreditch, alongside online programmes for a global community. TechCrunch covered our seed round from Galaxy Digital and Lemniscap, and why more than half of our bootcamp graduates land jobs on completion.
Google DeepMind, Microsoft, OpenAI, Reddit and Granola have all run programmes or events with us, alongside a long list of funded startups. We came up in the crypto developer scene and still run those programmes, but this role sells to the whole building.
THE ROLE
Our BizOps function already owns revenue: sponsorships, memberships and programme partnerships. We're hiring a BD Manager to work alongside it, take real ownership of the pipeline, and give it the capacity to go after more.
There are not many of us and everyone here is experienced. No layers, no handover queues, no waiting for permission. You'll be trusted with real accounts from the start and judged on what you close.
This is not a cold-calling job. The pipeline is warm and it walks through our door. Sponsors attend our events before we ever pitch them. Prospective members tour the Hub every week. Thousands of registrations flow through our events each quarter, already logged in our CRM. Your job is to convert relationships that already exist, and every event we run hands you the next batch.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own sponsorship sales end to end: prospecting from our own attendee and partner base, pitching, closing, renewing. Sell Hub memberships to the founders and teams already using the space. Work alongside BizOps on larger programme partnerships. Keep the pipeline honest in the CRM.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Proven BD or sales experience, where you've carried a target and closed your own deals. Comfortable selling to startups and scale-ups, typically DevRel, marketing or founder-level buyers. No crypto or AI background needed; you'll learn the market here. At home in a small, experienced team that automates the admin so your time goes on people. In the Hub five days a week: the building is the pitch, and the selling happens inside it.
WHAT YOU GET
£35,000 base + uncapped commission at 10% on sponsorships and memberships, accelerating above target, OTE around £50,000. A three-month commission guarantee while you ramp. Overseas travel, with recent team trips to New York, Amsterdam and Berlin. 25 days holiday, free food and drink, and a desk inside London's most active builder space. Rooftop BBQs, rooftop pilates, poker nights on the roof, demo nights with fish and chips, and a coffee shop opening downstairs this September.
PROCESS
A 30-minute intro call, then an interview with a senior member of the team, then a short real-world pitch exercise and a final conversation, in person at the Hub (expenses covered).
To apply, email [email protected] with a CV and a short note on the best deal you've closed.
