I'm currently supporting recruitment for a remote Legal AI project and am looking to connect with experienced attorneys interested in flexible, project-based contract work.

You’ll create Reinforcement Learning environments designed to test AI models on complex software engineering problems using Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools. Tasks may include debugging software, implementing features, refactoring code, optimizing performance, and designing environments where AI agents must discover and reason over information from real MCP servers.

You’ll build reproducible environments, deterministic verification systems, and reference solutions that accurately evaluate both software engineering ability and MCP tool usage.

No prior AI experience is required — strong software engineering expertise is what matters.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Reinforcement Learning environments for software engineering tasks
• Create realistic challenges involving bug fixing, feature implementation, refactoring, and performance optimization
• Build reproducible environments and deterministic verification systems
• Develop golden reference solutions and evaluation criteria
• Test AI agents' ability to reason over and interact with information from MCP servers
• Debug complex software issues and develop maintainable solutions
• Optimize software for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Validate AI-generated solutions against technical requirements and expected outcomes
• Document tasks, test cases, technical requirements, and evaluation methodologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional and distributed engineering teams

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript, or Rust
• Deep understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Strong debugging and software troubleshooting experience
• Experience implementing production-quality software features
• Strong background in codebase refactoring and software maintenance
• Experience with performance optimization and scalability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in remote environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with large-scale or distributed codebases
• Familiarity with MCP or developer-tool ecosystems
• Experience with AI, machine learning, or reinforcement learning
• Experience creating software evaluation or testing environments
• Strong code review experience
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices
