Role Description The Assistant Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Kingston Resorts in Myrtle Beach, SC. This position supports the Chief Engineer in overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and operation of resort facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house systems. Responsibilities include coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, responding to service requests, supervising maintenance team members, and ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently.
The Assistant Chief Engineer helps manage vendor relationships, monitors inventory of tools and supplies, and assists with capital improvement projects and renovations. The role also involves enforcing safety standards, maintaining regulatory compliance, and collaborating with other departments to provide a safe, well-maintained environment that enhances the guest experience.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess facilities maintenance and engineering skills, including experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Candidates should possess skills in preventive maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and equipment repair across hospitality or commercial properties.
- Candidates should possess supervisory and team leadership skills, including task delegation, training, and performance oversight.
- Candidates should possess project coordination skills, including vendor management, budgeting assistance, and support for capital improvement projects.
- Candidates should possess strong safety, compliance, and documentation skills, with familiarity in building codes, OSHA standards, and maintenance recordkeeping.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations, housekeeping, and front office teams.
- Relevant experience in hotel or resort engineering, preferably in a multi-building or large property environment, is highly beneficial.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical certifications or trade licenses (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are strongly preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to perform physically active tasks such as lifting, climbing, and extended walking.
- Candidates must possess extensive experience managing HVAC chillers and their supporting systems and equipment.
