Software Engineering Intern (Web & Infrastructure) – SkyTails

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, tech-savvy Software Engineering Intern (3rd/4th year undergraduate or Master’s degree student) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will work directly on building, deploying, and optimizing the SkyTails platform, utilizing modern web frameworks, cloud infrastructure, and streamlined continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines.

Commitment: 10–20 hours / week (Flexible Schedule)

• Compensation: Unpaid Internship (Hands-on startup experience, equity potential, and mentorship/recommendation letters upon successful completion)

Key Responsibilities

• Web Development: Develop, polish, and maintain clean, responsive web application interfaces and frontend/backend features for SkyTails.com.
• Deployment & CI/CD: Manage, optimize, and streamline site hosting and deployment workflows via Vercel.
• Repository Management: Maintain, structure, and document code repos on GitHub, adhering to modern Git workflows (pull requests, code reviews, branch management).
• Performance & Optimization: Monitor site performance, optimize core web vitals, and assist in bug fixes and feature rollouts.

Key Qualifications

• Academic Standing: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s (3rd/4th year) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• GitHub & Version Control: Intimately familiar with GitHub repository workflows (git commands, PR reviews, branching strategies, commit hygiene).
• Vercel Ecosystem: Solid understanding of Vercel for hosting, domain configuration, serverless functions, and deployment integrations.
• Modern Web Stack: Experience with React, Next.js, HTML5/CSS3, TypeScript/JavaScript, and RESTful APIs / GraphQL.
• Autonomy & Communication: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote startup environment with strong communication skills.
