About the job
SteadyIQ is hiring its first dedicated Senior Project Manager to own project execution discipline across our government implementation portfolio. You will run the plan, the record, and the cadence for three to four concurrent state agency engagements, and you will be the reason nothing falls between the cracks.
This is a delivery and project controls role. It is not a technical authority role and it is not an client ownership role.
The work runs in two registers, and you need to be fluent in both. Internally, we want the lightest process that is actually effective. Externally, engagements that involve partners with demanding project management expectations, their own artifacts, their own gates, and their own reporting cadence. When a client PMO asks for the full apparatus, you deliver it in their format, to their standard, without issues. This is critical in underscoring SteadyIQ’s purpose-built for government mission and white-glove service throughout the customer journey.
How This Role Fits
Every implementation is staffed as a three person pod. Clear ownership across the three roles is what keeps us fast- and effective.
Senior Project Manager (YOU):The plan, the record, the cadence, and the portfolio picture. Owns project management practice with the client and the reporting the rest of us rely on.
Solutions Architect: Source of truth for product and technical questions. Leads technical discovery and integration proof of concept. Pulls in engineering and product as needed.
Client Delivery/ Success: The business relationship and program domain expertise. Leads business discovery. Carries the relationship through go-live into ongoing steady-state client management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Governance and Documentation
- Own the project plan for each assigned engagement: work breakdown, schedule, critical path, milestones, dependencies, and baseline change history.
- Maintain the RAID log and decision log, for every engagement, and drive open items to closure rather than simply recording them.
- Run the meeting mechanics that keep an engagement moving: agendas, minutes, follow ups, and status reporting on a predictable cadence.
- Keep documentation current and audit ready, so any internal or client stakeholder can reconstruct what was decided, when, and why.
Portfolio Visibility
- Produce the consolidated view across all assigned engagements, giving leadership, product, engineering, and sales one place to see status, risk, and what is coming next.
- Surface cross project patterns: repeated blockers, recurring risks, resource contention, and dependency collisions between engagements.
- Flag slippage early and with enough specificity that the pod can act on it.
Client and Partner PMO Interface
- Serve as SteadyIQ's project management counterpart to the agency project manager and to System Integrator PMOs.
- Represent SteadyIQ on all project management topics for assigned engagements: methodology, artifacts, schedule, governance, reporting, and change control.
- Operate inside the client's process, tooling, and templates when required, and produce their artifacts to their standard.
Process and Playbook Contribution
- Apply SteadyIQ's implementation playbook to each new engagement and adapt it to that agency's own implementation lifecycle, gate structure, and approval model.
- Contribute improvements back to the playbook. While owned by the PMO manager, we want everyone who uses it to make it better.
- Help mature the templates, checklists, and reusable artifacts so that our sixth engagement runs more smoothly than our second.
What Makes This Role Interesting
Our platform implementation is increasingly repeatable. However, every agency we deploy it for is starting from scratch and will follow its own process to get there. The central skill in this role is holding one internal playbook stable while re-expressing it in each agency's format and vocabulary, so that our team runs the same play every time while the client experiences their own process being followed properly.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience. 6+ years managing complex software or SaaS implementation projects, including direct experience delivering to state or local government agencies.
- Project management fluency. You know the standard artifact set cold and can speak PMP with a client PMO.
- Client PMO experience. Demonstrated success operating inside a client's or System Integrator's project management environment, using their tools and templates on their cadence.
- Process building. A track record of establishing repeatable process where none existed, without over engineering it.
- Documentation discipline and responsiveness. Our most demanding government clients ask for artifacts on short notice. Turnaround speed is part of the standard, not a nice to have.
- Technical literacy. Enough fluency to sit on an integration or API design discussion, follow it, and capture dependencies and risks accurately.
Preferred
- PMP certification. Strongly preferred. PMI-ACP, CSM, CAPM, or SAFe are a plus.
- Modern tooling. Experience with project management tooling, especially Microsoft Project (used extensively in government) is preferred. We are open to better tools, with one firm constraint: whatever we adopt has to port cleanly to Microsoft Project for client consumption.
- AI proficiency. We do NOT use AI for the sake of using AI. We ARE aggressively pursuing AI initiatives that deliver real, provable value at streamlining efficiency and experience and openness to the use of AI tools is highly desired.
- Program domain. Familiarity with public benefits programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF, with eligibility systems, or with income and employment verification.
- Public sector operations. Working knowledge of state IT governance, security review processes, inter agency data sharing, and public sector procurement cycles.
How We Work
- Our customers like us, and we treat that as a professional standard. Government relationships compound over years. Agencies expand scope, renew, and refer us based partly on whether their team enjoys working with ours. We want a project manager a client PMO is glad to see on the invite.
- Rigor without bureaucracy. We want systems that save the team time. We are not interested in process that requires ten meetings to change one line of code.
- Ownership. You will not have an army of support staff. You will own the problem, from the steering committee status deck down to the open action item nobody else has chased.
Logistics
- Portfolio. Three to four concurrent engagements.
- Travel. Occasional, and genuinely valued rather than required. In person time builds relationships across an agency team in a way calls do not. We do not expect heavy travel.
- Background and compliance. Because of the sensitivity of state data and client specific requirements, this position is subject to background check procedures beyond standard employment background check. These may include, but are not limited to, state specific criminal history checks, fingerprinting, and drug testing.
Total Compensation Package
- The base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000.
- This position is eligible for equity.
- We offer a 100% company-paid benefits package for employees and their families, including medical, dental, and vision. SteadyIQ maintains a positive work environment with unlimited time off and future growth opportunities within the company.
- This compensation and benefits information is based on SteadyIQ’s good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future at the discretion of the company. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and experience.
