Chief Engineer, Gateway Systems

Role Summary

Lead the overall engineering architecture and technical direction for next-generation gateway systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with strategic programs.

On-site presence is preferred at our Lake Forest, CA office however, remote flexibility may be available depending on the candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Define system architecture for gateway platforms
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams (RF, software, mechanical, systems)
• Own technical decisions, trade-offs, and standards
• Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability
• Act as technical authority for major programs (e.g., Kuiper, Mil/Gov)
• Drive innovation in multi-orbit and software-defined ground systems
• Oversee design reviews, validation, and qualification processes
• Mentor engineering leaders and build high-performance teams

Qualifications

• 15+ years in satellite or telecom system engineering
• Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
• Proven leadership in large-scale gateway or infrastructure programs
• Deep expertise in RF systems, antenna, and network integration
• Experience across commercial and defense environments preferred
