About Scalyx

I've spent my career at Tesla and Apple, and one thing stuck with me from both: waste is everywhere in operations, and the right software eliminates it. Independent jewelry boutiques don't have that software. They're running on spreadsheets, disconnected POS systems, and legacy tools that were never built for how their business actually works — serialized inventory, memo/consignment, compliance-heavy buyback, real relationships with real customers.

I'm not trying to patch that toolkit. I'm replacing it.

Scalyx is a digital manager — an AI-native system that runs the store alongside the owner. It manages inventory, drives purchasing decisions, handles follow-up, and catches what a person misses at 5pm on a Friday. Not a dashboard. The operational core of the business.

If we get this right, we prove that AI-native software can replace legacy ERP entirely — starting with the hardest vertical in retail, then expanding into the specialty retail businesses Big Tech never bothered with.

The product is already far along. POS, Orders, Purchasing/AP, RMA, Buyback & Trade-In, Appraisal, Commission, Roles & Permissions, Tax, and Communications are all built and live with a design-partner beta store today. What's missing is the AI brain that ties it together, and I need someone great to build it with me.

Who I'm Looking For
Hands-on with LangChain (or LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or a custom agent framework) — you can read someone else's agent code and finish it
A strong full-stack or backend engineer; React/Next.js/TypeScript is a plus
Product-minded — you care whether the agent actually helps a store owner, not just whether the chain runs
A systems thinker who wants this to become real technical ownership of the company, not a scoped contract
Why This Role

Most "CTO opportunities" ask you to commit to co-founder equity before either of us really knows if it's a fit. I built this one differently: you start with real, high-leverage work — finishing Clara — and the CTO track opens up once you've proven it out. Lower risk for both of us, and a real ceiling: a shot at being technical co-founder of the company that redefines how retail runs.
