Position Summary:
The CAD Designer works with engineers to provide design of components (3D & 2D) and assemblies to support operations and customer requirements for new and existing products. Creates, maintains and supports though accurate Bill of Materials (BOM), ERP Item master and product documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Apply CAD techniques to review engineering drawing, components, and assemblies
- Work as part of a dynamic team for engineering projects related to global and regional manufacturing programs.
- Design special / custom products using SolidWorks to meet design specifications.
- Provide accurate models, assemblies, and drawings for new product development and existing products.
- Creation and maintenance of Bill of Materials.
- Responsible for transfer of product into ERP system. Complete necessary ERP item creation maintenance.
- Maintain SolidWorks PDM file system.
- Release Engineering Change Notices and process Engineering Change Requests.
- Check drawings and layouts for accuracy, proper use of GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
- Participate in DFM, DFA, DFS and design reviews when required
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school required.
- 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Characteristics:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as ratios & proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Proficient with SolidWorks. Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M-2018 or later.
- Familiarity with Oracle ERP, preferred.
