About the job
Company Description Pronto Networks, Inc. builds connectivity hardware specifically for businesses that cannot afford network downtime, such as restaurants, retailers, kiosks, and multi-site operators where every dropped transaction impacts revenue. Headquartered in Walnut Creek, CA, with a global engineering footprint, the company designs and manufactures cellular routers, Wi-Fi 6 access points, LTE/5G gateways, and Wi-Fi HaLow (802.11ah) devices for high-demand environments including hospitality, healthcare, education, and smart cities. Pronto Networks focuses on POS and payment-grade solutions where PCI compliance, failover, and high uptime are essential. Its cellular-first, OpenWrt-based designs provide IT teams with robust control, carrier-aggregated failover, and certified hardware suitable for VARs, MSPs, and OEMs. The company partners closely with customers to standardize connectivity across large deployments and modernize legacy networks.
Role Description This is a part-time, hybrid Network Engineer role based in Walnut Creek, CA, with flexibility for some work from home. The Network Engineer will design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure supporting Pronto’s routers, gateways, and access points, ensuring reliable connectivity for customer deployments. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing network architectures, performing network administration, monitoring performance, and resolving connectivity issues across LTE/5G and Wi-Fi environments. The role involves collaborating with engineering and support teams to troubleshoot complex incidents, enhance network security, and optimize configurations for POS, payments, and IoT use cases. The Network Engineer will also help document network designs, create best practices, and support pilots and production rollouts for multi-site customers and channel partners.
