About the Role

• We are looking for a Backend Developer with strong Python experience to design, develop, and maintain the backend systems powering MIRA’s multi-tenant, enterprise-grade platform.
• You will work on REST APIs, database architecture, asynchronous workflows, third-party integrations, authentication and authorization, AI-service integrations, system performance, and production reliability.
• This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can build new capabilities while also improving the scalability, security, and maintainability of an evolving product.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Build secure multi-tenant systems with strong data isolation and role-based access controls.
• Design and maintain database models, migrations, relationships, and queries using PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and Alembic.
• Develop background-processing workflows and asynchronous jobs using Redis, Celery, or similar technologies.
• Integrate with third-party platforms, data providers, document-processing services, identity systems, and AI services.
• Develop and maintain webhooks, real-time workflows, and WebSocket-based capabilities where required.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, request validation, audit logging, and error-handling practices.
• Improve system performance, reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability.
• Build logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability into production services.
• Write clean, testable, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Create unit, integration, and API tests to support dependable releases.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, sprint planning, and architecture decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective solutions.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, AI, product, QA, DevOps, and business teams to deliver end-to-end features.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong programming experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or a comparable Python framework.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of API versioning, validation, error handling, and integration patterns.
• Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of database design, indexing, transactions, query optimization, and schema migrations.
• Experience with SQLAlchemy, Alembic, or similar ORM and migration tools.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience with Redis, Celery, message queues, job schedulers, or asynchronous processing.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, RBAC, and secure application design.
• Experience building or supporting systems in a cloud-based environment.
• Familiarity with Git, pull-request workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness and ability to work hours aligned with the U.S. Central Time zone.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications.
• Experience with fintech, mortgage lending, banking, insurance, or another regulated industry.
• Exposure to AI/ML integrations, large language model APIs, document intelligence, or data-driven applications.
• Familiarity with RAG systems, AI agents, or AI-service orchestration.
• Experience with WebSockets, event-driven systems, microservices, or modular service architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, data privacy, or secure software development practices.
• Experience supporting production systems with enterprise customers.
