Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to support enterprise Parts Applications and Supply Chain systems within a large-scale automotive environment. This role will serve as the Mainframe Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and production support for mission-critical applications while partnering with project managers, business stakeholders, and development teams.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in COBOL-based mainframe development, enterprise architecture, SDLC methodologies, and production support, along with the ability to deliver scalable solutions supporting high-volume automotive parts and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the Mainframe Systems SME supporting enterprise Parts Applications and Supply Chain initiatives
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and development tasks
• Lead functional analysis, detailed design, development, testing, implementation, and production support activities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2
• Define architectural solutions that support scalability, maintainability, and business requirements
• Support projects ranging from large enhancements to enterprise-wide application initiatives
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation, and post-production warranty support
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, QA teams, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC
• Provide regular project status updates, risk identification, and technical recommendations
• Troubleshoot production issues and support ongoing application maintenance
• Ensure adherence to enterprise development standards, architecture guidelines, and change management processes
• Support Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies
• Contribute to solution architecture discussions and enterprise technology planning

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong experience developing enterprise mainframe applications
• Advanced expertise with COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, and DB2
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Experience performing business analysis, functional design, development, testing, implementation, and production support
• Experience designing scalable enterprise application architectures
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Experience supporting mission-critical production systems
• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
• Experience working within Agile and Waterfall environments
• Stable work history within large enterprise organizations
Desired Skills
• Experience with .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, C#, or Angular
• Knowledge of Automotive Parts, Supply Chain, Warehousing, or Logistics systems
• Understanding of enterprise architecture, multi-tier applications, and cross-platform environments
• Experience with emerging technology standards and enterprise modernization initiatives
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience supporting medium-to-large enterprise software implementations
• 3+ years of Big 4 consulting experience preferred
