The VP, Pharmacy Finance is the senior finance person and a strategic liaison between finance and pharmacy at Mount Sinai. Reporting to the CFO of the Mount Sinai Health System and in partnership with the Chief Pharmacy Officer, the CFO of Pharmacy will be key in the development of strategic financial performance of the pharmacy team. Success will be dependent on an ability to leverage matrixed resources inside and outside of Pharmacy and Finance to drive strong business results.
Job Expectations:
Strategic partnership role with Pharmacy leadership team.
Responsible for projections, planning, monitoring, reporting, and accountable for the pharmacy operating and drug budgets.
Take ownership for all financial aspects of Pharmacy operations and performance with emphasis on ambulatory pharmacy services and 340b finance.
Facilitate an understanding of Pharmacy operating and financial performance for operators who impact results.
Lead the collaboration with Corporate Contracting/Reimbursement to proactively manage high cost drugs to ensure maximum revenue and reimbursement for system pharmacy.
Partner with finance and operations leaders in acute, and ambulatory and support functions to optimize the impact Pharmacy activities have on system-wide financial results.
Collaborate with Pharmacy leaders, SL leaders, physicians and others to analyze, model and implement new business opportunities to maximize system financial performance.
Be a leader in driving income improvements for ambulatory and hospital based Pharmacy results.
Lead financial and coordinate operational aspect of Hospital Pharmacy planning and forecasting processes. Work with Hospital Pharmacy leaders to ensure Hospital Pharmacy initiatives translate to actionable targets.
Help deploy and monitor MSHS’s internal controls, including policies, procedures and practices.
In collaboration with the pharmacy team, develop process transformation and improvement initiatives.
In collaboration with CPO, Network with national partners related to innovation, benchmarking, & clinical excellence.
Directly supervises the Pharmacy Financial Analyst.
Effectively develop finance team members’ technical skills and ability to understand system interdependencies, promoting a team approach with other areas of MSHS.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area
- 7 or more years of finance experience including support of an operations leader
- 3 or more years of leadership experience
- Strong demonstrated leadership and negotiation skills and experience
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and positively influence operations leaders
- Ability to synthesize financial and operating data into concise and actionable information for financial and non-financial users
- Strong curiosity and results orientation
Preferred
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree or CPA
- Healthcare experience
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of CMS and third-party payer regulations and policies related to revenue cycle operations.
- Knowledgeable on federal, state and commercial dynamics and how that translates to financial performance and outcomes
- Ability to lead and deliver financially models and various scenarios
