Summary

Job Summary Senior Network Engineer (Network Automation)

Summary Of Responsibilities

Lead and support large-scale infrastructure modernization by replacing end-of-life network equipment across data centers, remote sites, and enterprise environments.
Focus on both network engineering (40%) and network automation (60%), with variation by project phase.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure (Layer 2 & Layer 3).
Automate network provisioning, device configuration, software upgrades, and remediation activities.
Develop automation workflows and solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
Integrate automation with REST APIs and CMDBs; support API-driven provisioning and configuration.
Support hardware/software refresh, network migrations, and enterprise switch upgrades.
Focus on improving network stability, vulnerability remediation, operational reliability, and supporting AI-driven initiatives.
Participate in data center buildouts and large-scale device refresh programs.

Required Skills/Qualifications

~10 years of hands-on network engineering experience (network engineer first, not primarily DevOps/software).
Strong knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, security, and data center design.
CCNP-level networking knowledge (CCNP certification preferred; CCNA with strong experience considered).
Expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 network design, access/distribution switching, and campus/data center/remote-site networks.
Proven experience with network automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar).
Strong troubleshooting skills for deployments, provisioning, refreshes, migrations, and designs.
Experience integrating with APIs and automating infrastructure workflows.

Preferred Skills/Experience

Large-scale network refresh or modernization projects.
Data center buildout and enterprise infrastructure project delivery.
Automating refresh of thousands of network devices.
REST API / CMDB integration experience.
Navigating enterprise change management/governance.
Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and AI-assisted automation tool exposure (e.g., Devin, Claude).
Experience in large, process-driven organizations.
