About the job

We are looking for a candidate for our client, a direct-to-consumer health and supplement brand. Everything we sell, ship, subscribe and refund shows up in the warehouse — and the business runs on what comes out of it.

You operate primarily within the Bronze and Silver layers, delivering typed, deduplicated, and normalized data. Your goal is to ensure the plumbing is cheap, observable, and safe to change. You will work alongside our Analytics and MarTech Engineers, who own the modeling and reporting layers, to ensure data flows reliably so the rest of the business never has to guess at the numbers.

The mission
Make the data arrive on time, complete, and correctly typed, and make the platform it runs on cheap, observable, and safe to change. You own the plumbing: ingestion infrastructure, warehouse operations, and reliability monitoring so analysts can focus on business logic.

The stack you will work in
• Warehouse — Amazon Redshift
• Transformation — dbt, in a Medallion architecture: Bronze → Silver → Staging → Gold
• Ingestion — Airbyte, Stitch, RudderStack, n8n, Google Sheets
• Cloud & Infrastructure — AWS (EC2/ECS, S3, IAM, Lambda, Transfer Family, Athena, Event Bridge and related services), Kubernetes, Docker
• Delivery — Git, GitHub Actions, dbt Cloud orchestration, Jira

What you will own
• Ingestion & Pipeline Health — Own data ingestion and wrangling end-to-end. Work independently to establish observability and ensure healthy ingress across multiple sources. You will manage connectors and self-hosted Airbyte, diagnosing issues like schema drift and backfills before they impact downstream systems. This is an individual contributor role; you must be capable of self-managing and proactively identifying tasks without needing constant oversight.
• Warehouse Operations — Optimize Redshift performance, cost, and access control (WLM, sort/dist keys, roles-and-grants).
• Bronze & Silver Layer — Deliver raw ingestion and typed, deduplicated normalization using deliberate incremental strategies.
• Platform Reliability — Freshness monitoring, CI/CD orchestration, first-line triage, and writing the runbooks for recurring failures.
• Governance — Alerting, Documentation, PII handling, and warehouse organization.

Your first 90 days
• By day 30 — Environment running and full access mapped. You have shipped a Bronze/Silver change through the full PR and review cycle, and you can explain how a sync gets from a source system into a model.
• By day 60 — You own the ingestion platform: connector health, failed syncs, schema drift and backfills come to you first. One recurring failure has a runbook and an alert.
• By day 90 — You own warehouse operations end to end, including orchestration and cost. You have proposed and landed one platform improvement that was not asked for.

What you need
• Advanced SQL & dbt — CTEs, window functions, and dbt production experience (incremental models, macros, dbt build in CI).
• Cloud Warehouse Production — Redshift preferred. You understand query plans, distribution keys, and performance tuning.
• Python & Infrastructure — API ingestion scripts and AWS SDK. Stand up S3, compute, and IAM without waiting for help.
• ETL Tooling & Patterns — Operate Airbyte, Stitch, or Fivetran. Fluent in CDC, delta loads, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Operational Discipline — Git/PR review flow, CI/CD pipeline maintenance, and a "monitor everything" mindset.
• English at B2+ — Comfortable with asynchronous US-team collaboration and technical documentation.

Nice to have
• Redshift-specific tuning and cost management at multi-terabyte scale.
• Data quality frameworks — dbt tests, Great Expectations or equivalent.
• Infrastructure as code — Terraform, CloudFormation, or Docker-based deployments.
• DTC subscription economics: orders, refunds, LTV, cohort retention.
• AI-augmented delivery — agent workflows and spec-first prompting to accelerate model build, review and documentation. We work this way. Arriving fluent is an accelerator, not a prerequisite; the SQL and modeling depth is the part we cannot teach quickly.

Benefits:

  • Remote-First Culture: We embrace remote work! We offer the possibility to be 100% remote, and you are living proof that this is truly the case.
